TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS)
The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) provides a low pressure warning but does not re-inflate the tires. Tire pressures should be checked regularly, using an accurate pressure gauge when the tires are cold. Failure to do so could result in an accident, potentially leading to serious injury or death.
The TPMS cannot register damage to a tire. Regularly check the condition of the tires, especially if the vehicle is driven off-road. Failure to do so could result in an accident, potentially leading to serious injury or death.
The tire pressure warning lamp illuminates when one or more of the tires are significantly under-inflated. A message is also displayed. Stop and check the tires as soon as possible. Inflate the tires to the recommended inflation pressures for the vehicle’s loading condition. See TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) (YELLOW) and TIRE PRESSURES.
The tire pressure warning lamp illuminates if a temporary-use spare wheel is used as a road wheel. See TEMPORARY USE SPARE WHEEL AND TIRE CHANGE.
The TPMS constantly monitors the tire pressure in each road wheel. The spare wheel tire pressure is not monitored.
To confirm if TPMS is fitted to the vehicle: Switch on the vehicle’s ignition and check for the presence of a TPMS lamp in the instrument panel. Vehicles with a TPMS lamp have TPMS.

A special service kit is required when changing a tire fitted with a TPMS valve.
Non-approved accessories may interfere with the TPMS. If this occurs, the TPMS warning lamp flashes and then illuminates permanently.
Different types of tires may affect the performance of the TPMS. Always replace the tires in accordance with recommendations.
Each tire, including the spare (if provided), should be checked monthly when cold and inflated to the inflation pressure recommended by the vehicle manufacturer on the vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure label. (If your vehicle has tires of a different size than the size indicated on the vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure label, you should determine the proper tire inflation pressure for those tires.)
As an added safety feature, your vehicle has been equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that illuminates a low tire pressure telltale when one or more of your tires is significantly under-inflated. Accordingly, when the low tire pressure telltale illuminates, you should stop and check your tires as soon as possible, and inflate them to the proper pressure. Driving on a significantly under-inflated tire causes the tire to overheat and can lead to tire failure. Under-inflation also reduces fuel efficiency and tire tread life, and may affect the vehicle’s handling and stopping ability.
Please note that the TPMS is not a substitute for proper tire maintenance, and it is the driver’s responsibility to maintain correct tire pressure, even if under-inflation has not reached the level to trigger illumination of the TPMS low tire pressure telltale.
Your vehicle has also been equipped with a TPMS malfunction indicator to indicate when the system is not operating properly.
The TPMS malfunction indicator is combined with the low tire pressure telltale. When the system detects a malfunction, the telltale will flash for approximately one minute and then remain continuously illuminated. This sequence will continue upon subsequent vehicle start-ups as long as the malfunction exists.
When the malfunction indicator is illuminated, the system may not be able to detect or signal low tire pressure as intended. TPMS malfunctions may occur for a variety of reasons, including the installation of replacement or alternate tires or wheels on the vehicle that prevent the TPMS from functioning properly. Always check the TPMS malfunction telltale after replacing one or more tires or wheels on your vehicle to ensure that the replacement or alternate tires and wheels allow the TPMS to continue to function properly.
The instrument panel displays the TPMS warning lamp and related warning messages if a low tire pressure, or a fault, is detected.
The TPMS warning lamp operation and warning messages are as follows:

TIRE PRESSURE CHECK
The vehicle’s current tire pressures can be displayed via the Tire Pressures menu. See INSTRUMENT PANEL MENU OPERATION.
When the Tire Pressures menu is selected, the instrument panel displays two tire pressure values for each tire. One value shows the actual tire pressure. The other, displayed in brackets, is the advised inflation pressure.
The actual and advised inflation pressures change, based on ambient conditions and as the air temperature within the tires fluctuates during use.
- The advised inflation pressures do not always align with the vehicle’s cold pressure label due to warming of the tires through driving, and changes in ambient conditions. The advised and actual tire pressures, isplayed in the instrument panel, change as the tire temperature changes.
- Always inflate the tires to the advised inflation pressures displayed in the Tire Pressures menu.
- If any of the wheels or tires have been removed, the displayed tire pressures may not be valid. Drive the vehicle for at least 15 minutes in order to re-calibrate the system.
- The tire pressure units can be configured to display as either psi, bar, or kPa via the Vehicle and Units menus on the touchscreen. See SYSTEM SETTINGS.
Tire pressures may not be displayed after the following actions:
- Disconnection of the vehicle’s battery.
- Repairs to the TPMS system.
- Software updates.
The tire pressures are displayed after the vehicle is driven at 16 mph (25 km/h) for 5 to 10 minutes.
VEHICLE LOADING
When the vehicle is delivered, the tire pressures are set to those displayed on the tire pressure label. See TIRE PRESSURE LABEL.
The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) can be adjusted for Light load and Normal load conditions. Adjust the TPMS load settings via the TPMS load setting instrument panel menu. See INSTRUMENT PANEL MENU OPERATION.
The vehicle’s ignition must be switched on and the vehicle stationary.
When the vehicle’s ignition is switched on, the instrument panel displays a TPMS light load lamp, for approximately 4 seconds, if the light load setting is selected. No lamp is displayed if the normal load setting is selected. See TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) LIGHT LOAD (WHITE).

The TPMS load setting and tire pressures must correspond with the vehicle’s current load. See TIRE PRESSURES.
The vehicle’s current load setting can be displayed via the TPMS load setting menu. The vehicle’s current and advised tire pressures can be displayed via the Tire pressures menu. See INSTRUMENT PANEL MENU OPERATION.
FULL-SIZE SPARE WHEEL AND TIRE CHANGE
The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) automatically recognizes:
- Changes in wheel positions.
- If a new wheel or sensor is fitted.
- If a full-size spare with a sensor is fitted.
The vehicle must be stationary for 15 minutes during the wheel, sensor, and tire change, to make sure that the system can detect the change. After driving above 16 mph (25 km/h), any TPMS warning messages or lamps should update and/or clear within approximately 5 to 10 minutes.
Re-inflate the tire, within close proximity of the vehicle, following repairs to a full-size spare wheel fitted with a TPMS sensor. The TPMS warning lamp may illuminate if tire inflation is not carried out within close proximity of the vehicle. Should this occur, re-inflate the tire within 5 m of the vehicle. The full-size spare tire’s pressure should always be maintained at the highest recommended cold inflation pressure for that tire size. The recommended cold inflation tire pressures are displayed on the tire pressure label. The highest recommended pressure is usually for the rear tires at a heavy load. See TIRE PRESSURE LABEL.
