Ignition Switch/Steering Lock

This is a three-position, key-operated switch. The key can be removed when it is in the “OFF” or “LOCK” position.2022-Kawasaki-NINJA-H2-R-fig-1002022-Kawasaki-NINJA-H2-R-fig-101

For Locking:

  1. 2022-Kawasaki-NINJA-H2-R-fig-102Turn the handlebars fully to the left.
  2. Push the key down in the “OFF” position and turn it to “LOCK.”

WARNING
Turning the ignition switch to the “OFF” position while riding the motorcycle shuts down the entire electrical system and the engine will stop, which could cause an accident resulting in severe injury or death. Never operate the ignition switch while riding the motorcycle; only operate it when the motorcycle is at a standstill.
NOTE
Do not leave the ignition switch at the “ON” position for an extended time with the engine stopped, or the battery may become totally discharged.

B. Mode Button

Engine Start/Stop Switch

To start the engine, refer to the Starting the Engine section for starting instructions. To stop the engine in an emergency, move the engine stop switch to the position.

  • Ordinarily, the engine stop switch must be in the position for the motorcycle to operate.

NOTE

  • Ordinarily, the ignition switch should be used to stop the engine.
  • Although the engine stop switch stops the engine, it does not turn off all the electrical circuits and eventually, the battery will be discharged.

Mode Button
The mode button is used for setting the meter, KTRC mode, and KLCM.

  • Meter setting: Refer to the Setting Mode and Record Mode sections.
  • KTRC mode setting: Refer to the Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) section in the HOW TO RIDE THE MOTORCYCLE chapter.
  • KLCM setting: Refer to the Kawasaki Launch Control Mode (KLCM) section in the HOW TO RIDE THE MOTORCYCLE chapter.
