Starting the Engine
Shift the transmission into neutral.
WARNING
When the clutch lever is not pulled and the starter button is pushed while the transmission is not in neutral, the motorcycle can suddenly move, resulting in injury.
NOTICE
- This motorcycle is designed for competition use only. Therefore, the radiator does not incorporate a coolant reserve tank or cooling fan. Prolonged idling of the engine with no airflow through the radiator can cause coolant loss and engine overheating resulting in possible engine damage. Any riding conditions that increase engine temperature will further reduce idling time before coolant loss occurs. These conditions include high ambient temperature, sandy or muddy terrain, or other conditions causing high engine loads at low speeds. Furthermore, warming the engine up excessively before the operation, or leaving idling with the hot engine temperature after the operation results in the engine overheating, too.
- Do not jump-start because the electrical system and battery might be damaged. Can not pushed-start the engine because the lithium-ion battery is equipped.
When the engine is cold
- Pull out the idle adjusting screw/choke knob.

NOTE
When the surrounding temperature is low, the starter button might have to be pushed several times until the battery becomes warm.
NOTICE
- Do not operate the starter continuously for more than 5 seconds, or the starter and battery will overheat and the battery power will drop temporarily. Wait for more than 15 seconds between each operation of the starter to let them cool and the battery power recovers.
- When the starter button is continuously pushed, the temperature protection circuit in the battery stops the battery to discharge electricity temporarily. In that case, wait for a while until the battery cools down.
NOTE
- When the clutch lever is pulled, the motorcycle can be started with the transmission in any gear.
- Even after the engine has started, do not push back immediately the idle adjusting screw/choke knob until the engine is thoroughly warmed up.
- When the engine is already warm or restarts Push the starter button, leaving the throttle closed without using the idle adjusting screw/choke knob.
NOTE
lf the engine fails to start, open the throttle fully and push the starter button about 45 times to clear too-rich fuel mixtures in the engine. Then, push the starter button, leaving the throttle closed.
