Materials in the passenger compartment
The interior of the passenger compartment is designed to be pleasant and comfortable, even for people with contact allergies and for asthma sufferers. Tested materials have been developed in order to reduce the quantity of dust in the passenger compartment and to contribute to making the passenger compartment easier to keep clean The carpets in both the passenger compartment and the cargo area are removable and easy to remove and clean. Use cleaning agents and car care products recommended by Volvo to clean the interior.
Air purification system
In addition to the passenger compartment filter, the car is equipped with an air purification system that helps to maintain high air quality in the passenger compartment.

Conditions that need to be met:
- That all doors and the tailgate are closed.
- That all side windows and the panoramic roof (Option/accessory) are closed.
- That the air purification system Interior Air Quality System is (Option/accessory) activated.
- That the ventilation fan is activated.
- That the air recirculation is deactivated.
CleanZone does not indicate that the air quality is good. It only indicates that the conditions for good air quality have been met.

The following is included:
- An enhanced fan function means that the fan starts when the car is unlocked with the key. The fan fills the passenger compartment with fresh air. The function starts when required and is disengaged automatically after a time or when one of the passenger compartment doors is opened. The amount of time the fan runs is reduced gradually due to reduced need up until the car is 4 years old.
- The fully automatic air purification system Interior Air Quality System (IAQS).

The air quality sensor should always be engaged in order to improve the air quality in the passenger compartment. In a cold climate recirculation is limited so as to prevent misting In the event of misting, the defrost functions for the windscreen, side windows and a rear window should be used.
Activating and deactivating the air quality sensor (Option/accessory)
It is possible to set whether the air quality sensor should be activated/deactivated.
- Open the climate view in the centre display by tapping on the temperature button at the bottom centre of the centre display
- Press . . . in climate view.
- Select the desired setting under the Air quality sensor to activate/deactivate the air quality sensor.
Passenger compartment filter
Replacing the passenger compartment filter
To maintain high climate system performance, the filter must be changed at regular intervals. Follow the Volvo Service Programme for the recommended replacement intervals. If the car is used in a severely contaminated environment, it may be necessary to replace the filter more often.
There are different types of passenger compartment filter. Make sure that the correct filter is fitted.
Air purification
(Option/accessory)Air purification of the car prior to departure is used to improve the air quality in the passenger compartment. Air purification can be started directly from the centre display, but also starts automatically when preconditioning ends.This function uses ventilation to blow fresh air into the passenger compartment and then circulates the air through the air conditioning system’s passenger compartment filter.
Starting and switching off air purification

- Open the climate view in the centre display by tapping on the temperature button at the bottom centre of the centre display
- Press Parking.
- Tap on Start air purification to start air purification directly.
