Connecting the Polestar app to the vehicle
To be able to use the Polestar services, the app must first be linked to the vehicle.
Once a main user (administrator) has connected their app to the vehicle, additional vehicle users can be added.
Connecting the Polestar app to the vehicle
Make sure your vehicle is positioned in an area with coverage and that your mobile device has an internet connection.
Make sure that you have your Polestar ID and the vehicle identification number (VIN) with you before you start. The Polestar ID can be created by logging in to the Polestar app, and the vehicle identification number can be found in the windshield, in the center display, etc.
If you are the main user (administrator), you need to have all of the vehicle’s keys with you. For other users, one key is enough.
- Sit in the vehicle.
- Log in on the Polestar app and in the vehicle’s center display using your Polestar ID.
For a more customized experience and support, it is recommended that every user create a personal Polestar ID.
- In the center display, accept data sharing by going to App view , settings and tapping Privacy and data sharing.
- Go back to your profile in the center display. The first user that connects their app to the vehicle must be logged in on the Owner profile and have all of the vehicle’s keys with them.
- Select to pair in the Polestar app. Make sure that the same PIN code is shown in the phone and in the center display. Accept and choose a name for the vehicle to complete pairing.
Difference between administrators and non-administrator in the Polestar app
The vehicle’s Owner profile must be connected to the app before any other profile can be connected. To assume the role of administrator, all of the vehicle’s keys must be in the vehicle when the app is connected.
A user who is an administrator in the app can
- see which phones or other devices are paired with the vehicle
- remove their own and other paired phones/devices from the vehicle.
A user who is not an administrator in the app can
- see if their own phone/device is paired with the vehicle
- remove their own phone/device.
Tips when using the Polestar app
If you experience disruptions with the Polestar app even though the car to which the app is linked is outdoors in an open location with cellular coverage and your mobile device has a good Internet connection, contact Polestar Customer Support.
If the vehicle was previously owned, however, you should first check whether the Polestar Connect service is activated in the vehicle.
