Deactivating speed-controlling functions

The speed-controlling functions can be deactivated using the button on the steering wheel. The function then goes into standby mode. This applies to cruise control (CCCruise Control), Adaptive Cruise Control* (ACCAdaptive Cruise Control), and Pilot Assist*.
  • Pressing the button on the steering wheel keypad.

> The symbol and markings in the instrument panel are extinguished – the selected speed-controlling function is in standby mode.

When another function is selected in the center display, the instrument panel’s symbol and marking for the previously selected function are hidden, and the set/stored maximum speed is deleted.

WARNING

When speed-controlling functions are in standby mode, the driver must intervene and regulate both speed and distance to the vehicle ahead.

Selecting and activating speed-controlling functions

The speed-controlling functions must first be selected in the center display before they can be activated using the button on the steering wheel.   • Select the desired function using the button for speed-controlling functions in the center display under Assist.

> The button’s symbol will change depending on which function is selected and the symbol in the instrument panel is visible but not illuminated.

  • When the desired function is selected, press on the steering wheel keypad to activate it.

> The symbol in the instrument panel is illuminated – the function starts and the current speed is stored as the maximum speed.

  • If the function is in standby mode – press the button on the steering wheel to reactivate.

> The cruise control markings in the instrument panel illuminate and the vehicle will then return to the most recently set speed.

WARNING

A noticeable increase in speed may follow when the speed is resumed with the steering wheel button.

Switches between Adaptive Cruise Control and Pilot Assist

  • When Adaptive Cruise Control is selected, press the button on the steering wheel to switch to Pilot Assist. Press again to switch back.

Speed-controlling functions

There are several driver support functions to assist the driver in maintaining a suitable speed according to the situation. Below is a list for easy reference.

Brief description

The Automatic Speed Limiter function uses speed information from the Road Sign Information function*  to Road Sign Information automatically adapt the vehicle’s maximum speed.

Cruise Control can help the driver maintain an even speed to provide a more relaxing driving experience, for example on highways and long, straight roads with even traffic flows. Adaptive Cruise Control helps the driver maintain a constant speed with a set time interval to the vehicle ahead. Pilot Assist can help the driver keep the vehicle in the current traffic lane by providing steering assistance and maintaining an even speed and a set time interval for the vehicle ahead.

Steering wheel buttons for speed-controlling functions
