Backup battery for Polestar Connect
- The backup battery has a limited lifespan. When the battery requires servicing or replacement, a message (Polestar ConnectService required) is shown in the instrument panel.

Selling a vehicle with Polestar Connect
The following steps should be carried out by the previous owner:
- Remove the link between the vehicle and the Polestar 1 app.
- Reset the settings in the center display – select to perform a factory reset.
Purchasing a vehicle with Polestar Connect
The following steps need to be carried out by the new owner:
- Contact a delivery center for assistance transferring the time remaining on the previous owner’s Polestar Connect subscription. If the subscription has expired, an extension will need to be purchased. The delivery center automatically generates a PIN code via email or text message. Save the PIN code in a safe place.
- Linking the Polestar 1 app to the vehicle.
Change of ownership to another countryWhen a vehicle is purchased and imported to another country, it is important that the owner visits a delivery center in the country in which the vehicle was purchased. The retailer will then delete all customer data in their systems. The owner should then contact a delivery center in the country in which the vehicle is imported for assistance starting the Polestar Connect service.
Connecting the vehicle to the Internet via vehicle modem (SIM card)
Vehicles equipped with Polestar Connect will use the vehicle modem Internet connection for the services.
The SIM card is located under the cover of the upper right-side child restraint anchor at the edge of the rear-seat parcel shelf.
- Insert a personal SIM card in the holder.Note that the vehicle’s card reader requires mini SIM cards.
- Tap Settings in the Top view.
- Tap .
- Activate/deactivate by tapping to check/uncheck the Vehicle modem Internet box.
- If a different connection is being used, confirm the connection change.
- Enter the SIM card’s PIN code.
> The vehicle will connect to the network.
Getting started with Polestar Connect
Exploring the Polestar 1 appBefore picking up the vehicle from the delivery center, you are recommended to download the free-of-charge Polestar 1 app and test it in demo mode. Demo mode makes it possible to explore the majority of functions and provides information on how the app is used.
Activating Polestar ConnectWhen the vehicle is picked up, the delivery center will activate the Polestar Connect system and the owner will receive an automatically generated PIN code for Polestar Connect. The PIN code is used for security reasons to identify the owner (or another authorized person such as a family member) and works as a vehicle key.
A free subscription is initiated when the vehicle is purchased and the system is activated. This subscription is valid for a limited time, but can be extended. Contact Polestar Customer Support for more information.

Polestar ID and linking the Polestar 1 app to your vehicleA Polestar ID is required to use Polestar Connect. Once a Polestar ID has been created, the Polestar 1 app needs to be linked to the vehicle.
To use the services in the Polestar 1 app, the vehicle must have a valid Polestar Connect subscription and the app must be linked with the vehicle.
Buying a pre-owned vehicle with Polestar ConnectIf you have purchased a pre-owned vehicle with Polestar Connect, it is important to delete the data from the previous owner and add you own details for the service to work. Contact Polestar Customer Support for assistance.
Polestar Connect PIN code
- The PIN code is used for security reasons to verify that a person is authorized to use Polestar Connect services in a particular vehicle.
- The four-digit PIN code will be automatically generated by Polestar Assistance and sent to the vehicle owner.
Using the Polestar Connect PIN codeFor security reasons, a Polestar Connect PIN code is required for the following services:
- Link the Polestar 1 with the vehicle.
- Remote vehicle unlock via Polestar Assistance.
- Setting up new app users for your vehicle.
- Canceling your Polestar Connect subscription via the app, e.g. if the vehicle changes owners.
If you have forgotten or want to change your PIN codeIf you have forgotten your PIN or need to change it (for example, when buying a used vehicle with Polestar Connect), contact Polestar Assistance via the ON CALL button or the Polestar 1 app. The new code will be sent to the vehicle’s owner.
If an incorrect PIN code has been entered in the app multiple timesIf an incorrect PIN code has been entered incorrectly 10 times in a row, the account will be locked. To use the app again, a new PIN code must be selected and a new app account created following the same process used to create the previous app account.
Difference between Polestar ID password and Polestar Connect PIN codeThe Polestar ID password is required to log in to the Polestar 1 app. The PIN code for Polestar Connect is the four-digit code used for the above services. The PIN code shows that the user is authorized.
Polestar Connect abroad
When you push the SOS button, you will always be connected to Polestar Assistance for the market in which the vehicle is currently located. An emergency call center is contacted if Polestar Assistance is not available in that market.
When you press the ON CALL button, you will always be connected to your home country’s Polestar Assistance.

Polestar Connect availability
Polestar Connect is fully available for 5 days. On days 6-21, services such as remote vehicle immobilization and stolen vehicle tracking can be initiated via Polestar Assistance. After 22 full days, the system is disconnected to save the battery and is fully available again as soon as the vehicle is started.
- The system’s services only work in areas in which Polestar Connect‘s partners have cellular coverage and in markets where Polestar Connect is available.
- Just as with cellular phones, atmospheric disturbances or areas with fewer transmitters, e.g. sparsely populated rural areas, can make connection impossible.
