2021 Polestar 1 Locking and unlocking

Activating and deactivating private locking

Private locking is activated using the function button in the center display and a PIN code.
NOTE

For the valet lock function to be activated the car must be in at least ignition mode I.

Two codes are used for private locking:

  • A security code, which is created the first time the function is used.
  • A PIN code, which is changed each time the function is activated.

Entering security code before initial use

The first time the function is used, a security code must be selected. This code can then be used to deactivate private locking if the selected PIN code has been forgotten or lost. The security code functions as a PUK (security) code for all PIN codes used for private locking.
Save the security code in a safe place.

To create a security code:

  • Tap the button for private locking in Function view.

> A pop-up window will appear.

  • Enter the desired security code and press Confirm.

> The security code is saved. The private locking function is now ready for activation.

Activating private locking

  • Tap the button for private locking in Function view.

> A pop-up window will appear.

  • Enter the code you would like to use to unlock the trunk lid and tap Confirm.

> The trunk lid will be locked. A green indicator light will illuminate next to the button in Function view to confirm locked status.

Deactivating private locking

  • Tap the button for private locking in Function view.

> A pop-up window will appear.

  • Enter the code used for locking and tap Confirm.

> The trunk lid will be unlocked. The green indicator light next to the button in Function view will go out to confirm unlocked status.

Forgotten PIN code

  • If you have forgotten your PIN code or entered it incorrectly more than three times, the security code can be used to deactivate private locking.
  • If the vehicle is unlocked via the Polestar 1 app, private locking will be automatically deactivated.

Forgotten security code

If you have forgotten your security code, contact Polestar Customer Support for assistance deactivating private locking.

Automatic locking when driving

  • For safety reasons, the doors and trunk lid will automatically lock when the vehicle starts driving.
  • The doors can still be opened from the inside during automatic locking when driving. Depending on lock settings, either all doors will be unlocked or only the door that is opened will be unlocked.
NOTE

For safety reasons, all of the vehicle’s doors will unlock in the event of a collision. This will only happen if one or more of the safety systems has been triggered.
