INCONTROL SAFETY

Make sure the following warnings have been read and fully understood before using the InControl features on the vehicle or smartphone. Failing to do so could result in an accident, leading to serious injury or death.

WARNING

Do not adjust the touchscreen controls, or allow the system to distract the driver, while the vehicle is moving.

WARNING

Always store the phone securely. In an accident, loose items can cause injury.

WARNING

Drivers should use the smartphone only when it is safe to do so and when such use does not distract the driver from the road.

INCONTROL OVERVIEW

NOTES

The availability and functionality of all InControl features and services depend upon the specification of the vehicle and the market in which the vehicle is being used. Please consult your retailer/authorized repairer for further information. InControl uses a smartphone and in-vehicle technology to remotely connect the vehicle to a number of services and convenience features.

InControl features include:

  • InControl Remote smartphone app: The app features allow the user to remotely find information about the vehicle’s health and status on the smartphone. The smartphone app also displays vehicle information, including the fuel level, range, and odometer value. For further information on the available app features, please refer to the InControl section on the Land Rover website at: www.landrover.com/incontrol. See INCONTROL REMOTE SMARTPHONE APP.
  • SOS Emergency Call: If the vehicle is involved in an accident and the airbags deploy, the SOS emergency call sends information to the emergency services, including location, as well as connecting the user by phone. See SOS EMERGENCY CALL.
  • Optimized Land Rover Assistance: If the vehicle breaks down, the user can make a direct call to the Land Rover assistance team by pressing the Optimized Land Rover Assistance button. Alternatively, the user can make a direct call from the InControl Remote smartphone app. See OPTIMIZED LAND ROVER ASSISTANCE.
  • Stolen Vehicle Locator: Assists with locating the user’s stolen vehicle. See STOLEN VEHICLE LOCATOR.
  • Pivi Pro: A selection of features that are available to enhance the navigation system. For further information on Pivi Pro, please refer to the navigation section of the Owner’s Handbook. See PIVI PRO FEATURES.
  • Online Pack with Data Plan: Contains a range of embedded live applications that are displayed directly on the touchscreen. Online Pack with Data Plan features do not require the physical connection of a smartphone to the vehicle. Online Pack with Data Plan offers an expanding range of third-party live applications, including online media, weather, agenda information, and an integrated virtual personal assistant. See ONLINE PACK WITH DATA PLAN and ONLINE MEDIA.
  • Wi-Fi Enabled with Data Plan: Provides in-vehicle access to cellular internet, enabling wireless devices in the vehicle. For further information, please refer to the connectivity section of the Owner’s Handbook. See WI-FI ENABLED WITH DATA PLAN.
  • Android Auto™: Allows for the vehicle’s multimedia system to display and control the user’s Android™ phone. For further information on Android Auto, please refer to the phone section of the Owner’s Handbook. See ANDROID AUTO.
  • Apple CarPlay®: Allows for the vehicle’s multimedia system to display and control the user’s iPhone®. For further information on Apple CarPlay, please refer to the phone section of the Owner’s Handbook. See APPLE CARPLAY.

INCONTROL ACCOUNT SET UP

InControl features, such as the InControl Remote smartphone app, Optimized Land Rover Assistance, and Online Pack with Data Plan require an InControl account. Some InControl features are subscription services. The subscription for these features can be extended after the initial term has expired. For further information, please contact the retailer/authorized repairer. An InControl account may have been registered by the retailer/authorized repairer. Please click on the link from the InControl email sent by the retailer/authorized repairer which takes the user to the InControl website and follows the on-screen instructions. If no activation email has been received, please check the email spam folder. Alternatively, contact the retailer/authorized repairer. To register, connect, and activate an InControl account, please refer to the My Land Rover InControl website at: https://incontrol.landrover.com. Follow the on-screen instructions. Alternatively, once the InControl Remote smartphone app download is complete, create an InControl account using the InControl Remote smartphone app. The app guides the user through the activation process of the InControl services available for the vehicle.

NOTES

When an InControl account is set up, the user of the account creates a PIN. The PIN is required for certain InControl features.

NOTES

The owner is responsible for removing the vehicle from the InControl account when ownership of the vehicle is transferred. For further information, please refer to the InControl section on the Land Rover website at: www.landrover.com/incontrol.

DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLING SMARTPHONE APPS

NOTES

Not all smartphones are compatible. For compatibility information on Apple or Android smartphones, please refer to the relevant app download page from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

INCONTROL REMOTE SMARTPHONE APP:

To use the InControl Remote smartphone app, first, download the app to a smartphone.

To download and install the launcher app:

  1. Search for and download the InControl Remote smartphone app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. When the installation is complete, open the launcher. Select the InControl Remote smartphone app icon.
  3. Sign in to the InControl Remote smartphone app using the InControl account details. See INCONTROL ACCOUNT SET UP.

INCONTROL REMOTE SMARTPHONE APP

The availability and functionality of the InControl Remote smartphone app depend on the specification of the vehicle and the market in which the vehicle is being used.

In order to use the InControl Remote smartphone app features, complete the following steps:

  1. Create an InControl account. See INCONTROL ACCOUNT SET UP.
  2. Download the InControl Remote smartphone app to a smartphone. See DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLING SMARTPHONE APPS.

Available features within the InControl Remote smartphone app:

VEHICLE LOCATION:

A map display of the vehicle’s parked location and the user’s current location.

VEHICLE STATUS:

Displays the latest status of vehicle alerts such as windshield washer fluid level low. Each status gives an indication of the health of each alert, as well as offering advice on how to resolve any alerts.

BEEP & FLASH:

Locates the vehicle by flashing the vehicle’s lights and sounding an alert.

NOTES

The driver is responsible for complying with all regulations in force for a specific country, regarding the use of vehicle horns.

VEHICLE SECURITY:

Displays the open and closed status of all the doors and windows. Vehicle Security also displays the locked and unlocked status of the vehicle.

Vehicle Security allows the user to lock and unlock the vehicle remotely. If either lock or unlock cannot be performed, the phone screen displays an error message.

When the vehicle is locked remotely, it is secured to the maximum possible level allowed in the market in which the vehicle was intended for original sale.

NOTES

If any window(s) is in an open position, the vehicle does not lock remotely, unless the window is closed. In some markets, remote closing of the windows is not permitted.

When the vehicle is unlocked remotely, it relocks after 40 seconds if no door or aperture is opened.

NOTES

The driver is responsible for knowing the location of the vehicle and for making sure that the vehicle is secured.

REMOTE CLIMATE:

Remote Climate allows the engine of an automatic transmission vehicle to be started remotely, and to run for up to 30 minutes. The Remote Climate feature provides a comfortable temperature inside the cabin in advance of the driver entering the vehicle. Press the Start Climate icon on the Remote Climate section of the InControl Remote smartphone app. A target temperature can be set.

Remote Climate does not function if any of the following conditions exist:

  • The vehicle’s fuel level is low.
  • The vehicle’s battery charge level is low.
  • The vehicle is not locked and alarmed.
  • A window, door, hood, or the tailgate is open.
  • The engine has been manually started.
  • A system error occurs with a required vehicle system.
  • A theft has been reported to the stolen vehicle monitoring center.
  • The vehicle’s alarm is sounding.
  • A crash event has been detected.
  • The hazard warning lights are switched on.
  • The automatic transmission is not in Park (P).
  • The brake pedal or accelerator pedal is pressed.
NOTES

Some markets may prohibit the use of remote engine starting. The driver is responsible for knowing if this function can legally be used.

NOTES

Vehicles fitted with the clean air pack will run a purifying-cleaning cycle during a the remote climate cycle. However, the primary function of the Remote climate cycle is temperature control.

PURIFY:

The Purify remote cabin cleaning section of the InControl app provides deep in-cabin cleaning. Remote cabin cleaning allows the customer to purify the cabin air prior to their journey without the need for a remote engine start. The remote cleaning cycle includes:

  • Cabin air purging at the beginning of the cycle;
  • Purification of the air from particulate matter down to and below 2.5 um in diameter, odor removal and pathogens deactivation.

The remote app displays the cleaning cycle progress and its benefits alongside a display of the on- and off-board PM2.5 levels. Air Quality Index (AQI) data is also provided. AQI data is received from an air quality data provider and gives a detailed view of the air quality for the current location. AQI data can include up to 5 metrics (AQI, O3, PM2.5, PM10, NO2, SO2). See AIR QUALITY. The remote app also offers options for scheduling air quality events.

Purify events can also be scheduled via the Remote Climate scheduling app, as described above.

NOTES

PHEV vehicles are limited to a maximum of 3 off-board cleaning cycles in succession between vehicle journeys. Non-PHEV vehicles are limited to 1 off-board cleaning cycle between engine starts. A message is displayed if any of the pre-conditions for the cleaning cycle are not met.

REMOTE SEATS:

The InControl Remote smartphone app allows the user to adust the position of rear seats, arm-rest, and ski-hatch in advance of entering the vehicle.

NOTES

The InControl Remote smartphone app only allows electric rear seat and head restraint movement if the vehicle is locked.

NOTES

The InControl Remote smartphone app operations depend on vehicle specifications.

TRIPS:

Displays the most recently completed trip over 1 mile in distance. Providing details of each trip from start to finish.

NOTES

The Trip feature can be enabled or disabled via the Vehicle Settings section of the InControl Remote smartphone app, or on the My Land Rover InControl website at: https://incontrol.landrover.com.

NOTES

Stored trips can be viewed, deleted, or exported as a .csv file to assist with business expenses.

ASSISTANCE:

Displays vehicle information such as the VIN number. Direct calls can be made to the Optimized Land Rover Assistance call center for breakdown assistance. In the event of vehicle theft, direct calls can be made to the stolen vehicle monitoring call center.

NOTES

All calls are chargeable in accordance with mobile operator prices.

VEHICLE SETTINGS:

Provides the user access to specific vehicle settings and trip preferences.

SEND TO VEHICLE:

Allows the user to plan journeys, search and discover information about a destination, and send planned journeys to the vehicle’s in-car navigation system. In addition, the user can set a destination from the smartphone app before leaving home. The smartphone app directs the user to the vehicle using the vehicle’s location (if parked some distance away). Users are also able to pre-plan trips by searching for places of interest and saving them as favorites on a smartphone. Saved favorites can be accessed these saved locations from the in-car navigation system later. The smartphone app automatically synchronizes with the in-car navigation system so that the vehicle takes over navigating soon after the user gets in. The Send to Vehicle feature location is within the “Explore” tab of the InControl Remote smartphone app.

LAND ROVER REMOTE PARK ASSIST SMARTPHONE APP

The availability and functionality of the Land Rover Remote Park Assist smartphone app depend on the specification of the vehicle and the market in which the vehicle is being used.

The remote park assists feature allows the driver to perform a parking maneuver from outside of the vehicle using a smartphone.

The remote park assist feature comprises five main modes:

  1. Remote parallel parking.
  2. Remote perpendicular parking.
  3. Remote parallel park exit.
  4. Remote perpendicular park exit.
  5. Direct forward or backward.

In order to use the remote park assist feature, complete the following steps:

  1. Download the Land Rover Remote Park Assist smartphone app to a smartphone. See DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLING SMARTPHONE APPS.
  2. When the installation is complete, open the Land Rover Remote Park Assist smartphone.
  3. The smartphone app guides the user through a step-by-step pairing of the smartphone app to the vehicle.
    NOTES

    Failure to follow the smartphone pairing with the vehicle will result in the remote park assist feature being unavailable.

When the setup of the Land Rover Remote Park Assist smartphone app is complete, the user can begin using the remote park assist feature. For information on using the remote park assist feature, please refer to the relevant section. See REMOTE PARK ASSIST.

SOS EMERGENCY CALL

There are two states of SOS emergency call: Automatic and manual operation. In a crash situation, where the air bags have deployed, an automatic emergency call is made to the emergency services. In a non-crash situation, when emergency assistance is required, the emergency call button can be used manually. In both states, the button flashes yellow until the emergency services answer the call, at which point the flashing stops. The vehicle’s location, owner details, vehicle details, and the problem are automatically sent to the call center. The appropriate emergency services are despatched to the vehicle’s location. Contact with the emergency services agent can be made, at any time, by pressing the SOS emergency call button.

The SOS emergency call button is located in the overhead console, on the right side. See DRIVER CONTROLS.

To make a direct call to the emergency services:

  1. Press and release the button’s cover.
  2. A red LED illuminates in the button.
  3. Press the button for 3 seconds to make a direct call to the emergency services.
  4. After use, push the button’s cover back into place.
NOTES
If the vehicle is traveling in a different country, the SOS emergency call may still connect. However, the vehicle’s location and the vehicle’s details may not be automatically sent to the local provider. There is a single battery that maintains full system operation in the event that the vehicle’s battery is disconnected or disabled. The battery is guaranteed for the vehicle’s warranty period. If the battery requires replacement, the instrument panel displays a warning message. Consult a retailer/authorized repairer for a replacement battery. If a fault is detected with the SOS emergency call system, the instrument panel displays a warning message. If this occurs, the vehicle can still be driven, but consult a retailer/authorized repairer at the earliest opportunity.

OPTIMIZED LAND ROVER ASSISTANCE

The Optimized Land Rover Assistance call button is located in the overhead console, on the left side. See DRIVER CONTROLS.

In the event of a breakdown:

  1. Press and release the button’s cover.
  2. A white LED illuminates in the button.
  3. Press the button for 3 seconds to make a direct call to the Optimized Land Rover Assistance call center.
  4. The button flashes until the call center answers the call, at which point the LED changes to yellow.
  5. The vehicle’s location, owner details, and vehicle details are automatically relayed to the call center.
  6. The Optimized Land Rover Assistance call center sends roadside assistance to the vehicle’s location.
  7. When the light flashes, push the button for 3 seconds to answer the call.
  8. After use, push the button’s cover back into place.

STOLEN VEHICLE LOCATOR

In the event that the vehicle is stolen:

  1. First, contact the police and file a police report.
  2. Contact the stolen vehicle monitoring center via the InControl Remote smartphone app. Alternatively, use the phone number on the InControl website, please refer to the Land Rover website at: www.landrover.com/incontrol.
  3. Provide the stolen vehicle monitoring center with the police report number.

The stolen vehicle monitoring center liaises with the police to pinpoint the exact location of the stolen vehicle. While tracking the vehicle, access to the InControl Remote smartphone app and the user’s InControl account, is unavailable until the vehicle has been recovered.

An additional feature is available as part of the stolen vehicle locator feature, called Guardian Mode.

Guardian Mode alerts the owner to any unauthorized interaction with the vehicle, regardless if the vehicle is opened using the owners smart key.

To activate Guardian Mode via the InControl Remote smartphone app:

  1. Select the Security soft key from the smartphone app’s homepage.
  2. Touch toggle on or off to enable or disable Guardian Mode.

Guardian Mode can only be enabled or disabled via the InControl Remote smartohone app.

ONLINE PACK WITH DATA PLAN

WARNING

For applicable markets and vehicles only, Online Pack with Data Plan offers a complimentary data plan during its subscription period to support unlimited use of third party live applications.

Online Pack with Data Plan subscriptions provide access to a suite of live applications and can be accessed from the touchscreen apps menu. See APPS SCREEN.

Some live applications may require the user to link an existing InControl account from an associated service provider.

  1. Select ACCOUNTS from the apps screen menu. See APPS SCREEN.
  2. Select the required user profile.
  3. Select a provider from the available list.
  4. Select Email Me to send a sign-in link to the user’s email address.
  5. Alternatively, scan the QR code on the screen, which leads to a page prompting login details.
NOTES

The QR code can be scanned with the default camera app on iOS devices. On Android devices, an additional QR code reader application may need to be installed.

Online Pack with Data Plan features require an active InControl account to log-in and manage preferences. See INCONTROL ACCOUNT SET UP.
