POWER DOORS SAFETY

WARNING
The powered door system incorporates soft-close latches. The soft-close latches secures the doors automatically. Before operating the power doors, make sure that the area is clear and that anyone in the vicinity does not have any body part in a position where it could be trapped. Note that the soft close action does not incorporate object detection. Death or serious injury could occur, even with an object detection system.
WARNING
While the powered doors are open, the locking latches are exposed. Do not attempt to manually close the latches, as the latches may also automatically soft-close and trap items or body parts.
CAUTION
Make sure there is sufficient space around the sides of the vehicle before operating the powered doors. Insufficient opening space may result in damage to the vehicle.
CAUTION
The vehicle must not be driven with the powered doors unlatched and not completely closed. Any persons in the passenger space should be secured with a seat belt and arranged to allow the doors to be securely latched and completely closed. An unlatched or open door may allow items or occupants to fall from the passenger space, causing injury. Make sure that the doors are fully closed prior to driving the vehicle. An unlatched or open door may allow exhaust fumes to enter the vehicle, causing drowsiness, which in turn may lead to an accident. Jaguar Land Rover will not accept liability for the loss of any possessions from the vehicle or injuries to other road users, occupants or pets if the vehicle is driven with the doors left open or not fully closed.
CAUTION
The door object detection system is an aid to detect obstacles in the path of the powered door. Ensure there is sufficient space around the sides of the vehicle to allow the door to fully open before operating the power door. Insufficient opening space may result in damage to the vehicle.

For the door object detection system to operate properly, users should:

  • Make sure that the door object detection sensors are not obscured by dirt, snow, stickers, foils, wraps or other physical barriers.
  • Make sure that no objects are present. The door object detection system may not detect particularly low objects or objects suspended vertically or horizontally.
CAUTION
The side object detection system is an aid to detect approaching road users from the rear of the vehicle. Side object detection suspends power door operation if an approaching road user is detected. The responsibility of opening any door remains with the vehicle occupants. Occupants must make sure they do not present a hazard to themselves, other road users or pedestrians.
