2023 Land Rover NEW RANGE ROVER Power Doors
POWER DOORS SAFETY
While the powered doors are open, the locking latches are exposed. Do not attempt to manually close the latches, as the latches may also automatically soft-close and trap items or body parts.
Make sure there is sufficient space around the sides of the vehicle before operating the powered doors. Insufficient opening space may result in damage to the vehicle.
The vehicle must not be driven with the powered doors unlatched and not completely closed. Any persons in the passenger space should be secured with a seat belt and arranged to allow the doors to be securely latched and completely closed. An unlatched or open door may allow items or occupants to fall from the passenger space, causing injury. Make sure that the doors are fully closed prior to driving the vehicle. An unlatched or open door may allow exhaust fumes to enter the vehicle, causing drowsiness, which in turn may lead to an accident. Jaguar Land Rover will not accept liability for the loss of any possessions from the vehicle or injuries to other road users, occupants or pets if the vehicle is driven with the doors left open or not fully closed.
The door object detection system is an aid to detect obstacles in the path of the powered door. Ensure there is sufficient space around the sides of the vehicle to allow the door to fully open before operating the power door. Insufficient opening space may result in damage to the vehicle.
For the door object detection system to operate properly, users should:
- Make sure that the door object detection sensors are not obscured by dirt, snow, stickers, foils, wraps or other physical barriers.
- Make sure that no objects are present. The door object detection system may not detect particularly low objects or objects suspended vertically or horizontally.
POWER DOORS OPERATION
The powered doors electrically open or close according to a choice of user inputs:
An audible warning sounds if an obstruction is detected in the door aperture or hinge area, or obstruction is detected by the door motor.
While stationary and unlocked, the door handle is in position 1. Partially pull the exterior door handle to position 2, then release. The powered door opens. Pulling the door handle to its full extent (3) manually opens the door. See SMART KEY OPERATION, DOOR LOCKS AND HANDLES, and APPROACH UNLOCKING.
- Flush position. Car locked or in motion.
- Deployed position: Car unlocked and stationery.
- Half pull: requests power door open.
- Full pull: manual door open.
The vehicle must be stationary for powered door operation.
Pulling the exterior door handle to its full extent will unlatch the door manually. The door can then be opened manually, or powered operation can be requested by partially pulling the exterior door handle.
Any secondary input, via manual hold, obstacle detection, or a second press of a switch or handle pull, suspends powered door operation.
The Interior door handle is shown in its rest state, 1. Partially pull the interior door handle halfway to position 2 on a closed door, then release. The power door opens. See DOOR LOCKS AND HANDLES.
Pulling the interior door handle to its full extent (3) will unlatch the door manually. The door can then be opened manually.
Alternatively, use the touchscreen menu to open individual doors or all the doors. In Park, access the Power door control screen using the Vehicle picture shortcut. See POWER DOORS TOUCHSCREEN OPERATION.
Any secondary input, via manual hold, obstacle detection, or a second press of a switch or handle pull, suspends powered door operation.
Before operating the power doors, check the surrounding area is clear. Make sure that power opening the doors does not present a hazard to other road users and pedestrians. Make sure power door movement does not cause damage to public or private property.
The power doors open electrically according to a choice of user inputs:
- A short press on the power door close switch will close the door electrically.
- A long press on the power door close switch will close all open doors, including the tailgate, electrically.
- A short press on the door lock button located on the exterior door handle closes that door electrically.
The power door close switch is located on the rear of the door as shown.
The power doors close electrically according to a choice of user inputs:
- Press the brake pedal briefly to close the driver’s door only.
- Press the switch located near the grab handle and map reading light.
- Use the touchscreen menu to close individual doors or all the doors. Access the Power door control screen using the Vehicle picture shortcut. See POWER DOORS TOUCHSCREEN OPERATION.
Press and hold the close all icon on the touchscreen to close all open doors and tailgate.
Any secondary input, via manual hold, obstacle detection, or a second press of a switch or handle pull, suspends powered door operation.
With child locks enabled, all interior controls for the rear doors are disabled. See CHILD SAFETY LOCKS.
The door hold feature retains the door in a fixed position, depending on where it stops moving. The retention force may vary depending on external conditions such as camber, incline and wind speed. Power opening any door except the driver’s door will unlock all the doors. If 2-stage unlocking is enabled, opening the driver’s door will only unlock the driver’s door. See 2-STAGE UNLOCKING .
