ADJUSTING THE STEERING WHEEL

WARNING
Never adjust the steering wheel while the vehicle is in motion. Doing so may cause a loss of control, which may lead to an accident potentially resulting in serious injury or death.
WARNING
Do not use steering wheel-mounted security devices. Movement of the steering column in entry or exit mode could result in damage to the vehicle or possible serious injury or death.

Adjust the tilt and reach of the steering wheel as follows:

  • Move the control forward or rearward to adjust the reach of the steering wheel.
  • Move the control up or down to adjust the tilt of the steering wheel.
NOTES
The electrically adjustable steering column continues to move until the control is released or the steering column reaches either of its minimum or maximum positions. Use the driving position memory feature to store and recall up to three steering wheel positions along with the seat and door mirror positions. See SEAT POSITION MEMORY.

ENTRY AND EXIT MODE

With the steering column control in the AUTO position, the steering column moves to provide easier entry and exit from the vehicle.

On opening the driver’s door, the system raises the steering column to the highest position, assisting with entry or exit from the vehicle.

NOTES
The steering column returns to its previous position once the driver’s door is closed and the ignition is switched on.
NOTES
If the steering column is adjusted during entry or exit operation, automatic movement stops.

To prevent automatic movement of the steering column, turn the control clockwise to the alternative position.

HEATED STEERING WHEEL

Press the heated steering wheel button to switch on the steering wheel heating. Press again to switch off.

NOTES
If the steering wheel heater is operating when the ECO program is selected, the steering wheel heater switches off automatically. The steering wheel heater can be switched on again, but this may affect the fuel economy of the vehicle.

ALL-WHEEL STEERING

WARNING
Do not drive the vehicle when an All Wheel Steering (AWS) fault displays in the instrument panel. An AWS fault will impact the ability to control the vehicle. Doing so may result in an accident, potentially leading to serious injury or death. The vehicle is equipped with AWS, which automatically steers the vehicle’s rear wheels. At low to moderate vehicle speeds, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels, to increase the agility of the vehicle and reduce the turning circle for parking maneuvers. At higher vehicle speeds, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels to enhance vehicle stability during maneuvering. In the event of a fault, AWS will display a warning.
