2022 Land Rover New Range Rover Exiting The Vehicle
SINGLE LOCKING
Before exiting the vehicle, always select Park (P), switch off the ignition, apply the Electric Parking Brake (EPB), and remove any smart keys. Missing these steps may lead to serious injury or death.
No modifications or additions should be made to the security system. Such changes could cause the system to malfunction.
Before attempting to lock the vehicle, always make sure of the following:
- The ignition is switched off.
- All of the doors, the windows, the hood, and the taildoor are closed correctly.
Briefly press the lock button on the smart key to lock the vehicle and arm the perimetric alarm. The hazard warning lights flash to confirm.
Single locking secures the vehicle and prevents the doors from being opened from the outside. The doors may still be unlocked and opened from inside the vehicle.
The single locking setting should be used in circumstances when pets remain in the vehicle, or if a window must be left open.
Once armed, the alarm activates if:
- The hood, tail door, or door is opened.
- The engine START/STOP button is pressed without a valid smart key present.
- The vehicle’s battery is disconnected.
- An attempt is made to disconnect the battery backup sounder.
Always secure the vehicle when left unattended.
In some markets, the full alarm system, including the alarm sensors, is armed when the vehicle is single-locked. The alarm sensors can be enabled and disabled, for one alarm cycle only, via the Vehicle menu in the touchscreen. See SYSTEM SETTINGS.
KEYLESS LOCKING
The smart key may not be detected if it is inside a metal container, or is shielded by a device with a back-lit LCD screen. For example, a smartphone, laptop, including when inside a laptop bag, or a games console. Keep the smart key clear of such devices when attempting keyless entry, keyless locking, or push button starting. Loose coins, in the same pocket as the smart key, may also affect its detection.
Using the door handle buttons to keyless lock:
- Press the lock/unlock button on the door handle once to single lock the vehicle.
NOTES
Do not grip the door handle while pressing the button. Doing so prevents the vehicle from locking. - The hazard warning lights flash once to confirm the single locked status.
When using keyless locking, the vehicle does not lock if:
- Any door(s) is open.
- The hood is open.
- The taildoor is not fully closed.
- The vehicle’s ignition is switched on.
If locking is unsuccessful the hazard warning lights do not flash, and the power-fold mirrors, if enabled, do not fold in. Make sure that the vehicle’s ignition is switched off, and that all of the doors, the hood, and the taildoor are closed properly. Lock the vehicle again. If the mislock persists, consult a retailer/authorized repairer.
WALK-AWAY LOCKING
This feature is not available on your vehicle at this time.
ALARM DEACTIVATION
It is possible to temporarily disable the activation of the alarm sensors when the vehicle is locked. When the ignition is switched off, an instructional message is displayed on the instrument panel detailing how to deactivate the alarm.
LOCK CONFIRMATION
If uncertain whether the vehicle is locked and armed, press the lock button on the smart key. With keyless entry, press an exterior door handle lock button. The hazard warning lights flash once to indicate and confirm the current lock status.
If the vehicle is not already locked and armed, press the lock button once to lock the vehicle.
MISLOCK
When locking the vehicle with the smart key, a mislock can occur if:
- One or more of the doors, the hood, or the tailgate are not fully closed.
- One or more of the doors have failed to lock.
- The vehicle’s ignition is switched on.
If any of the above are present, the vehicle does not lock and an audible mislock error warning sounds. The hazard warning lights do not flash and the power-fold mirrors, if enabled, do not fold in. Check that all of the doors, the windows, the hood, and the tailgate are closed properly. Make sure the vehicle’s ignition is switched off. Lock the vehicle again. If the mislock persists, consult a retailer/authorized repairer.
Operating any door handle while attempting to unlock, lock, or change the child lock status may cause the security system to ignore any requests.
DOOR LOCKS AND HANDLES
- Door handle: Partially pull to operate power doors. Fully pull to unlock or release the door. Operating a door handle on either front door unlocks all of the doors. See POWER DOORS OPERATION.
- Lock button: Press to lock. With all of the doors closed, press a lock button to lock all of the doors and the loadspace.
- Unlock button: Press an unlock button to unlock all of the doors and the loadspace. Alternatively, pull either front door handle (1) once to unlock all of the doors.
If the vehicle is locked with the smart key, operating an interior door handle unlocks only that door. If the door is unlocked or opened, the alarm sounds.
The rear door child safety locks inhibit the operation of the rear door lock and unlock buttons. See CHILD SAFETY LOCKS.
PASSIVE ARMING
When the passive arming feature is enabled, it automatically arms the perimetric alarm system 60 seconds after the driver’s door is closed. All of the other doors, the hood, and the tailgate must also be closed before passive arming enables. The ignition must also be switched off with no valid smart keys left inside the vehicle.
Passive arming does not lock the vehicle, although access to the loadspace via the interior or exterior release buttons is prevented.
Once the perimetric alarm is armed, if any door is opened without a valid smart key in the vicinity, the alarm sounds.
Passive arming can be enabled or disabled by a retailer/authorized repairer.
SENSOR FAULTS
If a fault is detected with a security sensor, an audible warning sounds from the alarm when the vehicle is unlocked. If this condition occurs, please visit a retailer/authorized repairer for rectification.
DEACTIVATING THE ALARM WHEN TRIGGERED
If the alarm activates, it can be deactivated by any one of the following methods:
- Press the unlock button on the smart key. See SMART KEY OPERATION.
- Open a door using keyless entry. See KEYLESS ENTRY.
- Press the START/STOP button with a valid smart key inside the vehicle. See STARTING THE ENGINE.
The cause of the last alarm activation can be displayed in the Vehicle menu in the touchscreen. See SYSTEM SETTINGS.
EMERGENCY LOCKING
Do not leave the emergency key blade in the vehicle at any point during the emergency locking procedure.
In the event of a fault with the alarm or locking system, the vehicle can be manually secured using the emergency key blade, if required. The emergency key blade is contained within the smart key body. See SMART KEY OPERATION.
In the event of the battery discharging, each of the doors must be locked manually.
To use the emergency key, open the driver’s door and locate the access cover for the emergency lock on the edge of the door. Insert the emergency key blade into the cover’s slot. Rotate the cover counter-clockwise to first release it. Pull the cover to remove it from the door. Keep the lock’s access cover safe.
- Insert the emergency key blade firmly into the emergency lock.
- Left side drives: Rotate clockwise to lock the doors.
- Right side drives: Rotate counter-clockwise to lock the doors.
Once the lock mechanism is turned, remove the emergency key blade. Refit the access cover and rotate the cover clockwise to secure it firmly. Close the door and confirm that it is locked by pulling the handle. Repeat the procedure for all other unlocked doors.
