2023 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Wipers And Washers

WIPER CARE POINTS

Make sure the following guidance has been read and fully understood before operating the wipers. Failure to follow the guidelines could cause damage to the wiper blades, arms, mechanism, or windshield.

CAUTION

Do not operate the wipers on a dry windshield.

CAUTION

Remove any snow, ice, or frost from the windshield, around the wiper arms and blades, and the cowl area, before operating the wipers.

CAUTION

Make sure the wipers do not stick to the glass during freezing or hot conditions.

CAUTION

Make sure the wiper blades are in the winter park position before lifting the arms away from the windshield. Failure to do so may result in damage to the hood. See WINTER PARK POSITION.

CAUTION

To avoid damage to the wiper blade, do not lift the wiper by the wiper blade. Always lift the wiper by the wiper arm.

CAUTION

Make sure the wipers are not in automatic rain-sensing mode and are switched off before entering a car wash.

NOTES

If the wipers leave smears on the glass after the vehicle has been washed, this may be due to wax or other residues. Should this occur, clean the glass with the recommended windshield washer fluid. See LUBRICANTS AND FLUIDS.

NOTES

The windshield is no longer wiped effectively and the automatic rain-sensing mode degrades if the wipers become worn. Always replace worn or damaged wiper blades as soon as possible. The wipers service position moves the wipers to allow wiper blade replacement. See WIPERS SERVICE POSITION.

NOTES

If the wipers become stuck or jammed, an electronic cut-out temporarily halts the operation of the wipers. If this happens, switch off the wipers and the vehicle’s ignition, when safe to do so. Clear any obstructions and free the wiper blades before attempting to switch on the vehicle’s ignition.

WIPER OPERATION

CAUTION

Make sure the relevant cautions have been read and fully understood before using the wipers. See WIPER CARE POINTS.

NOTES

The windshield wipers do not operate when the hood is open.

NOTES

The rear wiper does not operate when the tailgate is open.

  1. Windshield intermittent wipe or rain-sensing wipers. See RAIN SENSING WIPERS.
  2. LO: Windshield low-speed continuous wipe.
  3. HI: Windshield high-speed continuous wipe.
  4. Windshield single wipe.
  5. Windshield intermittent wipe adjustment or rain sensing wipers sensitivity.
  6. Windshield wash wipe.
  7. INT: Rear screen intermittent wipe.
    NOTES

The rear wiper automatically operates if the windshield wipers are operating and Reverse (R) is selected.

  8. ON: Rear screen continuous wipe.
  9. Rear screen wash wipe.
WINDSHIELD INTERMITTENT WIPE:

Move the control upward to position (1) to select windshield intermittent wipe. Rotate the collar (5) between the MIN and MAX marks to adjust the time delay between wipes. As the collar is rotated towards the MAX mark wipe frequency increases.

NOTES

Wipe frequency automatically increases with vehicle speed.

WINDSHIELD LOW-SPEED CONTINUOUS WIPE:

Move the control upward to position (2) to select windshield low-speed continuous wipe.

WINDSHIELD HIGH-SPEED CONTINUOUS WIPE:

Move the control upward to position (3) to select windshield high-speed continuous wipe.

WINDSHIELD SINGLE WIPE:

Move the control downward to position (4), and release, for a single wipe of the windshield. Hold in the downward position for additional wipes.

WINDSHIELD WASH WIPE:

Pull the control forward to position (6), and release, to operate the windshield wash wipe function. Hold the control in the forward position if more washer fluid is required. A drip wipe function clears any residual washer fluid from the windshield. See DRIP WIPE.

REAR SCREEN INTERMITTENT WIPE:

Rotate the end of the control to the INT position (7) to select rear screen intermittent wipe.

NOTES

Wipe frequency automatically increases with vehicle speed.

REAR SCREEN CONTINUOUS WIPE:

Rotate the end of the control to the ON position (8) to select rear screen continuous wipe.

REAR SCREEN WASH WIPE:

Press and release the end of the control to operate the rear screen wash wipe function. Press and hold the end of the control if more washer fluid is required. The wiper continues to operate for a number of cycles after the end of the control is released.

RAIN SENSING WIPERS

The windshield wipers operate automatically when the rain-sensing wipers feature is selected and water is detected on the windshield.

A rain sensor, mounted on the inside of the windshield behind the rear-view mirror, detects the presence and amount of water on the windshield.

Move the wiper control upward to position (1) to select the rain-sensing wipers feature. See WIPER OPERATION.

Rotate the collar of the wiper control (5) to adjust the sensitivity of the rain-sensing wipers feature. As the collar is rotated toward the MAX mark the sensitivity of the feature increases.

NOTES

The wipers may activate inadvertently in dry and often sunny conditions, due to optical influences and dirt accumulation on the windshield. It is recommended that the wiper control is returned to the OFF position if these conditions exist.

The rain-sensing wipers feature can be disabled or enabled via the touchscreen as follows:

  1. Touch the settings icon.¹
  2. Select ALL.
  3. Select Vehicle.
  4. Select Convenience.
  5. Select Wipers.
  6. Touch the Rain Sensing Wipers toggle to disable or enable the feature.
  7. Touch the exit icon.²

Settings icon.¹

Exit icon.²

RAIN-SENSING WIPERS LIMITATIONS

The rain-sensing wipers feature:

  • May not detect static water droplets on the windshield when the vehicle’s ignition is first switched on. Move the wiper control down to position (4) to instigate a single wipe in order to clear the windshield.
  • Does not operate if either of the front doors are open and the wiper control is in position (1). See WIPER OPERATION.

SPEED-DEPENDENT MODE

The speed of the front and rear wipers change automatically with vehicle speed if configured to do so.

The speed-dependent mode can be enabled or disabled by the retailer/authorized repairer.

FRONT WIPERS:

The front wipers slow to the next lowest speed if the vehicle’s speed drops below approximately 5 mph (8 km/h). The original wiper speed is resumed when the vehicle’s speed increases to over approximately 5 mph (8 km/h).

REAR WIPER:

The frequency of the intermittent rear wiper increases when the vehicle’s speed increases.

DRIP WIPE

If the drip wipe feature is configured, the wipers operate a few seconds after a wash and wipe cycle has finished. The drip wipe feature clears any remaining drips from the windshield.

The drip wipe feature can be enabled or disabled by a retailer/authorized repairer.

WINTER PARK POSITION

CAUTION

Make sure the relevant cautions have been read and fully understood before using the wipers. See WIPER CARE POINTS.

The wipers can be set to park in a higher position than normal when the vehicle is parked. The wiper arms can then be lifted from the windshield to limit the possibility of the blades sticking to the glass. Lifting the wiper blades from the windshield also aids the removal of snow, mud, leaves, etc.

CAUTION

Make sure that the wiper arms are in the winter park position before lifting the wiper blades away from the windshield. Failure to do so may result in damage to the hood.

The wipers move to the winter park position when the vehicle’s ignition is switched off. The wipers remain in the winter park position until one of the following occurs:

  • The vehicle’s speed is above 5 mph (8 km/h).
  • The wipers are operated.

The winter park position can be disabled or enabled via the touchscreen as follows:

  1. Touch the settings icon.¹
  2. Select ALL.
  3. Select Vehicle.
  4. Select Convenience.
  5. Select Wipers.
  6. Touch the Winter wiper park toggle to disable or enable the feature.
  7. Touch the exit icon.²

Settings icon.¹

Exit icon.²

HEADLIGHT WASHERS

NOTES

The headlight washers operate only if the headlights are switched on and there is sufficient washer fluid in the reservoir.

The headlight wash feature operates automatically with the windshield wash.

The feature operates every fourth operation of the windshield washers. The feature operates if the headlights are switched on and approximately 10 minutes has elapsed since the last headlight wash.

Switching the headlights or the vehicle’s ignition off and back on again resets the cycle. See LIGHTING CONTROL and SWITCHING OFF THE ENGINE.
