2023 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Steering Wheel
ADJUSTING THE STEERING WHEEL
Never adjust the steering wheel while the vehicle is in motion. Doing so may cause a loss of control, potentially resulting in an accident.
Do not use steering wheel-mounted security devices on vehicles with electrically adjustable steering columns. Movement of the steering column in entry or exit mode could result in damage to the vehicle or serious injury or death to the occupant.
To adjust the steering wheel position on vehicles equipped with a manual steering adjuster, move the lever (1) fully downward to unlock the steering column. When the steering wheel is adjusted to the desired position, replace the lever (1) fully upward to relock the column.
To adjust the steering wheel position on vehicles equipped with an electric adjuster:
- Move the control (2) forward or rearward to adjust the reach of the steering wheel.
- Move the control (2) up or down to adjust the tilt angle of the steering wheel.
The electrically adjustable steering column continues to move until the control is released or the steering column reaches its minimum or maximum position.
Use the driving position memory feature to store and recall up to three steering wheel positions along with the seat and door mirror positions. See SEAT POSITION MEMORY and DOOR MIRRORS.
POWER STEERING
The instrument panel displays a warning message and a warning lamp to indicate a fault with the power steering system.
Power assistance may be reduced to protect the system if overheating is detected. Overheating can be caused by excessive steering inputs or high ambient temperatures.
Full steering assistance should return when the system has cooled.
The steering wheel may vibrate to protect against freezing caused by water around the steering system.
If full steering assistance does not return, consult a retailer/authorized repairer.
ENTRY AND EXIT MODE
With the steering column controlled in the AUTO position, the steering column moves to provide easier entry and exit from the vehicle.
On opening the driver’s door, the system raises the steering column to the highest position, assisting with entry or exit from the vehicle.
The steering column returns to its previous position once the driver’s door is closed and the ignition is switched on.
If the steering column is adjusted during entry or exit operation, automatic movement stops.
To prevent automatic movement of the steering column, turn the control clockwise to the alternative position.
HEATED STEERING WHEEL
Press the heated steering wheel button (1) to switch on the steering wheel heating. Press again to switch it off.
If the steering wheel heater is operating when the ECO program is selected, the steering wheel heater switches off automatically. The steering wheel heater can be switched on again, but this may affect the fuel economy of the vehicle.
