Before exiting the vehicle, always make sure of the following: Park (P) gear is selected. The engine is switched off. The Electric Parking Brake (EPB) is applied. The smart key is removed from the vehicle.
This is to protect the safety of those inside and outside the vehicle.
No modifications or additions should be made to the security system. Such changes could cause the system to malfunction.
Briefly press the lock button on the smart key to lock the vehicle and arm the perimetric alarm. The hazard warning lights flash to confirm.
Single locking secures the vehicle and prevents the doors from being opened from the outside. The doors may still be unlocked and opened from inside the vehicle.
Once armed, the alarm activates if:
Always secure the vehicle when left unattended.
The smart key may not be detected if it is inside a metal container, or is shielded by a device with a back-lit LCD screen. For example, a smartphone, laptop, including when inside a laptop bag or a games console. Keep the smart key clear of such devices when attempting keyless entry, keyless locking, or push button starting.
Loose coins, in the same pocket as the smart key, may also affect its detection.
The vehicle does not lock automatically.
Keyless locking activates only if the smart key is detected outside the vehicle. If no smart key is present, locking does not occur.
The vehicle has deployable door handles.
Door lock/unlock button (1) Press to lock or unlock the vehicle.
Keyless unlocking: The smart key must be in range of the door being unlocked.
To unlock the vehicle without using the smart key, press the button on any retracted door handle to unlock.
When the door handle is in the deployed position, the door is unlocked.
Keyless locking: The smart key must be in range of the door being locked. All of the doors, the tailgate, and the hood must be closed and the ignition must be switched off.
To lock the vehicle using the lock/unlock button (1) press the door lock/unlock button twice within 3 seconds from any deployed door handle. When the doors lock, the door handles retract to the flush position. The hazard warning lights flash twice to confirm that the vehicle is locked and the full alarm is armed. An audible confirmation may also sound.
If any door, the tailgate, or the hood is open, or the ignition is switched on, no audible mis-lock error warning sounds. The hazard warning lights do not flash and the power-fold mirrors, if enabled, do not fold in.
Make sure that the ignition is switched off, and that all of the doors, the hood, and the tailgate are closed properly. Lock the vehicle again. If the mislock persists, consult a retailer/authorized repairer.
If uncertain about the vehicle’s locked and armed status, press the lock button on the smart key. With keyless entry, touch a lock button on an exterior door handle. The hazard warning lights flash once to indicate and confirm the current lock status. One short flash means that the vehicle is single locked.
When locking the vehicle with the smart key, a mislock can occur if:
If any of the above are present, the vehicle does not lock and an audible mislock error warning sounds. The hazard warning lights do not flash and the power-fold mirrors, if enabled, do not fold in. Check that all of the doors, the windows, the hood, and the tailgate are closed properly. Make sure the vehicle’s ignition is switched off. Lock the vehicle again. If the mislock persists, consult a retailer/authorized repairer.
Operating any door handle while attempting to unlock, lock, or change the child lock status may cause the security system to ignore any requests.
If the vehicle is locked with the smart key, operating an interior door handle unlocks only that door. If the door is opened, the alarm sounds.
The rear door child safety locks inhibit operation of the rear door lock and unlock buttons and the interior door handles. See CHILD SAFETY LOCKS.
A handle in the deployed position indicates an unlocked door.
A handle in the retracted flush position indicates a locked door or a vehicle speed above 5 mph (8 km/h).
Clear exit monitor is a user aid only. The user is responsible for opening the door with due care and attention. Make sure the door is opened in a manner which is safe for the vehicle, its occupants and other road users.
Make sure that the clear exit icons are not obscured by stickers or other objects. An obscured icon will impair the user’s ability to utilize the feature, which could cause damage to the vehicle.
Do not attach stickers or objects to the rear bumper that may interfere with the radar sensors. Blocked sensors could impair the operation of the clear exit monitor feature, which could cause damage to the vehicle.
Clear exit monitor warns of another vehicle, or moving object, approaching from behind when the door has been unlatched from the inside. Sensors in the rear bumper monitor nearby traffic. If the system determines that opening the door could be unsafe due to passing traffic, a visible warning is given to the user.
Clear exit monitor is fitted to all doors.
Clear exit monitor does not prevent the door from being opened.
Clear exit monitor becomes active when a door is unlatched, and the vehicle is stationary or traveling at less than 3 mph (5 km/h). Clear exit monitor remains active for 3 minutes after the vehicle’s ignition is switched off.
A white icon (1) illuminates to indicate that the system is active. An amber warning icon (2) illuminates to indicate that it could be unsafe to open the door due to passing traffic.
The icons extinguish after the door has been closed.
Clear exit monitor may not be able to detect all approaching traffic in all circumstances. Operation relies on the sensor’s ability to detect moving objects and may be affected by:
A loss of functionality or reduced warning times may be experienced if any of the above occur.
When the security system is armed, the battery back-up sounder activates if:
If the alarm activates, it can be deactivated by any one of the following methods:
The cause of the last alarm activation can be displayed from the Vehicle menu on the touchscreen. See SYSTEM SETTINGS.
Do not leave the emergency key blade in the vehicle at any point during the emergency locking procedure.
In the event of a fault with the alarm and/or locking system, manually secure the vehicle by locking all doors via the driver’s door key barrel.
The emergency key blade is required for this procedure. See SMART KEY OPERATION.
Using the emergency key:
If the issue persists, consult a retailer/authorized repairer for rectification as soon as possible.
In the event of the battery discharging, each of the doors must be locked manually.
The emergency key blade is required for this procedure. See SMART KEY OPERATION.
Using the emergency key:
Repeat the procedure for all other unlocked doors.
If a fault is detected with a security sensor, an audible warning sounds from the alarm when the vehicle is unlocked. If this condition occurs, please visit a retailer/authorized repairer for rectification.
