REAR SEAT SAFETY

Make sure to read and fully understand the relevant warnings before using the features in this section. Failure to observe warnings and cautions may result in vehicle damage, injury, or DEATH in the event of an accident.

WARNING
  • Always make sure that objects carried in the vehicle are secured properly. Unsecured items can cause death or serious injury in the event of an impact or sudden maneuver.
  • Never allow passengers to travel in the loadspace under any circumstances. All vehicle occupants should be seated correctly and wear a seat belt at all times when the vehicle is in motion.
  • Make sure the locking mechanism is fully engaged when the seatback is raised. An unsecured seatback may not properly support an occupant during a collision or sudden stop.
  • Make sure the seat belts are correctly routed and not trapped behind the seats when raising the rear seatbacks. An incorrectly routed seat belt may not properly restrain an occupant during a collision or sudden stop.
  • Make sure the head restraints are raised to the correct position before the seats are used by a passenger. The head restraint must be positioned correctly to restrain rearward movement of the head in a collision.
  • Always take note of the safety warnings and labels attached to the rear seats. The labels give advice on safely folding and raising the rear seats.
  • Before folding a rear seat, make sure that the seat is not occupied. Make sure that no other occupant has any part of the body on the seat cushion. Make sure no one reaches into the area of the seat being folded. Pay particular attention when one seat is already folded. Reaching into this area creates a risk of entrapment and serious injury.
  • Beware of trapping fingers when raising and lowering the rear seatbacks.
  • Always make sure that objects carried in the vehicle are secured properly. In a collision or sudden stop, unsecured objects could be thrown inside the vehicle, striking and injuring occupants.
  • Never allow passengers to travel in the loadspace under any circumstances. In a collision, people riding in this area are more likely to be seriously injured or killed.
  • Take care when retrieving items that have fallen down the side, back, front, or underneath the seat. Sharp objects may be present in these areas, which could present a risk of injury. Always stop the vehicle before retrieving items.
  • Before folding the rear seats, make sure that all objects have been removed from the seat being folded.

WARNING
  • Make sure that you have read and fully understood the relevant warnings before using any of the features in this section. See REAR SEAT SAFETY.
  • Beware of trapping fingers when raising, lowering, and moving the rear seats and seatbacks. Failure to do so creates a risk of entrapment and serious injury.
  • Always make sure that objects carried in the vehicle are secured properly. In a collision or sudden stop, unsecured objects could be thrown inside the vehicle, striking and injuring occupants.
  • Take care when retrieving items that have fallen down the side, back, front or underneath the seat. Sharp objects may be present in these areas, which could present a risk of injury. Always stop the vehicle before retrieving items.
NOTES
After removing a child restraint, always make sure the lower anchor bar flap is fully closed. Failure to fully close a flap could hinder a seat fold maneuver. See FITTING LATCH CHILD RESTRAINTS.
NOTES
If the rear window isolator button is pressed to inhibit operation of the rear windows, electric rear seat movement is also inhibited. See ELECTRIC WINDOWS.

Switches to control movement of the second and third row seats are as follows:

  1. Loadspace third row seatback switches. See ELECTRIC THIRD ROW SEATS.
  2. Loadspace second row seatback switches. See ELECTRIC SECOND ROW SEATS.
  3. Loadspace second and third row seatback switches: Press to fold all second and third row seatbacks.

ELECTRIC SECOND ROW SEATS

WARNING
  • Make sure that you have read and fully understood the relevant warnings before using any of the features in this section. See REAR SEAT SAFETY.
  • Beware of trapping fingers when raising, lowering, and moving the second row seats. Failure to do so creates a risk of entrapment and serious injury.
  • Always make sure that objects carried in the vehicle are secured properly. In a collision or sudden stop, unsecured objects could be thrown inside the vehicle, striking and injuring occupants.
  • Make sure to keep any part of the body away from moving components. Failure to do so could result in serious injury or death in the event of a sudden stop or collision.
CAUTION
Before folding the second row seats, make sure that all objects have been removed from the seat being folded. Failure to do so could potentially result in damage to the vehicle.
NOTES
The second row center seat belt incorporates a locking feature. The locking feature prevents the seat belt from being pulled out too far when the seatback is folded flat. To reset the feature, when returning the seatback to the upright position, extract the seat belt webbing until it stops. Return the seat belt webbing a small amount. The seat belt then operates as normal.
NOTES
Before folding or raising a rear seat, make sure the rear seat belts are fully retracted and positioned against their respective D pillars.
SECOND ROW SEATBACK RECLINE:
NOTES
Before reclining the second row seats, make sure they are positioned fully rearward. Moving the second row seats fully rearward reduces the potential of a clash with the front seats. In the event of a clash, the front seats move forward. Use the front seat controls to return the front seats to their original positions. See ELECTRIC FRONT SEATS.

To recline the second row seats, move the switch on the side of the seat backward. Release the switch when the seatback is in the required position.

Move the switch forward to raise the seatback.

THIRD ROW SEAT ACCESS POSITION:

To access or exit the third row seats:

  1. Press the switch on the top of the seatback to fold the second row seatback forward, while manually sliding the seat forward.
  2. Manually slide the seat to return it to the previous position. If the seat is not moved to the fully rearward position, press the switch to return the seatback to the fully upright position. If the seat is moved fully rearward, the seatback automatically returns to the fully upright position.

ELECTRIC THIRD ROW SEATS

WARNING
  • Make sure that you have read and fully understood the relevant warnings before using any of the features in this section. See REAR SEAT SAFETY.
  • To avoid injury, the loadspace cover must not be left in the fitted position when the third row seats are occupied. Failure to do so could potentially result in serious injury or death in the event of a sudden stop or collision.
  • Do not allow passengers to travel in the third row seats when the second row seats are in the folded or third row access position.
  • Beware of trapping fingers when raising and lowering the third row seat. Failure to do so creates a risk of entrapment and serious injury.
  • When raising the rear seats, make sure that the seat belts are correctly routed into the seat belt guides and not trapped behind the seats. An incorrectly routed seat belt may not properly restrain an occupant during a collision or sudden stop.
  • Always make sure that objects carried in the vehicle are secured properly. In the event of an accident, unsecured objects could cause serious injury or death.
CAUTION
Make sure nothing is left on the third row seat or in the footwell when folding down the seat. Failure to do so could potentially result in damage to the vehicle. The third row seatbacks can be folded or raised individually. To fold or raise the seatbacks, use the switches located on the pillar adjacent to the second row seats, or the switches located in the loadspace.

From inside the vehicle, pull the switch (1) to lower the right-side head restraint. Continue to pull the switch (1) to lower the third row seatback. To raise the seatback, push and release the switch (1). When the seatback is in the fully raised position, manually raise the head restraint into position. Use switch (2) in the same way to move the left-side seat.

To raise the seatback, pull and release the switch (1). When the seatback is in the fully raised position, manually raise the head restraint into position. Use switch (2) in the same way to move the left-side seat.

INTELLIGENT SEAT FOLD

WARNING
  • Make sure that you have read and fully understood the relevant warnings before using any of the features in this section. See REAR SEAT SAFETY.
  • Beware of trapping fingers when raising, lowering, and moving the rear seats. Failure to do so creates a risk of entrapment and serious injury.
  • Make sure that seat belts are correctly routed and not trapped when raising the rear seats. An incorrectly routed seat belt may not properly restrain an occupant during a collision or sudden stop.
  • Make sure to keep any part of the body away from moving components. Failure to do so could potentially result in serious injury or death in the event of a sudden stop or collision.
CAUTION
Before folding the seats, make sure that all objects have been removed from the second and third row seats, and from the footwells. Failure to do so could potentially result in damage to the item or seat.
  1. Second row seatback switches.
  2. Third row seatback switches.

The intelligent seat fold feature allows the rear seats to be easily and conveniently configured in a number of different ways. The feature automatically calculates if any seats will clash, and takes appropriate action to make sure any fold or raise sequence is successful.

NOTES
If required, the Front Seat Clash Avoidance feature can be switched off via the Seats screen.

The rear seats can be configured as follows:

  • The second and third row seatbacks can be folded or raised using switches located in the loadspace.
  • The second and third row seatbacks can be folded or raised via the touchscreen.
  • The third row seatbacks can be folded or raised using switches located on the door pillars, adjacent to the second row seats. See ELECTRIC THIRD ROW SEATS.
NOTES
Before folding or raising the second row seats, make sure they are positioned fully rearward. Moving the second row seats fully rearward reduces the potential of a clash with the front seats. In the event of a clash, the front seats move forward. Use the front seat controls to return the front seats to their original positions. See ELECTRIC FRONT SEATS.

A firm press of a second row seatback switch fully folds the relevant second row seatback. A light press of a second row seatback switch partially folds the relevant second row seatback. Releasing the switch after a light press stops seat movement.

A firm pull on a second row seatback switch fully raises the relevant second row seatback. A light pull on a second row seatback switch partially raises the relevant second row seatback. Releasing the switch after a light press stops seat movement.

Fully pressing a third row seatback switch folds the relevant third row seatback. Fully pulling a third row seatback switch raises the relevant third row seatback.

NOTES
The third row seats can only be fully folded or fully raised.

RESTRICTED REAR SEAT TRAVEL

CAUTION
If electric seat movement stops unexpectedly during folding or raising, check for and remove any obstructions.

Once any obstructions have been removed, continue the seat movement by pressing the appropriate button.

NOTES
If no obstructions can be seen, and normal movement cannot be carried out, contact a retailer/authorized repairer.

REMOTE SEATS

WARNING
Make sure that you have read and fully understood the relevant warnings before using any of the features in this section. See REAR SEAT SAFETY.
