WARNING
Before exiting the vehicle, always select Park (P), switch off the ignition, apply the Electric Parking Brake (EPB) and remove any smart keys. Missing these steps may lead to serious injury or death.

CAUTION
No modifications or additions should be made to the security system. Such changes could cause the system to malfunction.

Before attempting to lock the vehicle, always make sure of the following:

The ignition is switched off.
All of the doors, the windows, the hood, and the tailgate are closed correctly.

Briefly press the lock button on the smart key to lock the vehicle and arm the perimetric alarm. The hazard warning lights flash to confirm.

Single locking secures the vehicle and prevents the doors from being opened from the outside. The doors may still be unlocked and opened from inside the vehicle.

NOTES
The alarm sensors should be disabled in circumstances when pets remain in the vehicle, or if a window must be left open. Use the Vehicle menu. See SYSTEM SETTINGS.

NOTES

In the locked state with active sensors, an open glass area may cause the alarm to sound, due to the movement of air. Make sure that all glass areas are fully closed before locking the vehicle.

Once armed, the alarm activates if:

The hood, tailgate, or a door is opened.
The engine START/STOP button is pressed without a valid smart key present.
The vehicle’s battery is disconnected.
An attempt is made to disconnect the battery back-up sounder.
The vehicle’s alarm sensors are triggered.

NOTES
Always secure the vehicle when left unattended. Where possible, always secure the vehicle to the maximum available level of security.

NOTES
The full alarm system, including the alarm sensors, is armed when the vehicle is single locked. The alarm sensors can be enabled and disabled, for one alarm cycle only, via the Vehicle menu. See SYSTEM SETTINGS.

DOUBLE LOCKING

WARNING
Never double lock the vehicle with people, children, or pets inside. In the event of an emergency, occupants would be unable to operate the doors and the emergency services would be unable to release any occupants quickly.

Double locking secures the vehicle and prevents the doors from being unlocked or opened from inside or outside the vehicle.

Double locking provides extra security if the vehicle is left unattended. The vehicle cannot be opened by breaking a window and operating the doors from inside. Additionally, double locking arms the full alarm system.

Press the lock button on the smart key twice within 3 seconds to double lock the vehicle and arm the full alarm system. The hazard warning lights flash twice to confirm. If enabled, a double lock tone sounds.

Once the full alarm system is armed, the alarm system activates if:

The tailgate, a door, or the hood is opened.
Movement is detected within the vehicle’s interior, including air currents.
The vehicle is raised or tilted, if a tilt sensor is fitted.
The START/STOP button is pressed.

KEYLESS LOCKING

WARNING
Never lock the vehicle with people, children, or pets inside. In the event of an emergency, any occupants would be unable to exit the vehicle and the emergency services would be unable to release the occupants quickly.

NOTES
The smart key may not be detected if it is inside a metal container, or is shielded by a device with a back-lit LCD screen. For example, a smartphone, laptop, including when inside a laptop bag, or a games console. Keep the smart key clear of such devices when attempting keyless entry, keyless locking, or push button starting. Loose coins, in the same pocket as the smart key, may also affect its detection.

NOTES
The vehicle does not lock automatically unless Walk Away Locking is fitted and enabled.

Touch the lock sensor (1) once to single lock the vehicle.
NOTES
Do not grip the door handle while touching the sensor. Doing so prevents the vehicle from locking.
The hazard warning lights flash once to confirm the single locked status.
Touch the lock sensor (1) again, within 3 seconds, to double lock the vehicle.
NOTES
Double locking is not available in all markets.
The hazard warning lights flash twice to confirm the double locked status.

When using keyless locking, the vehicle does not lock if:

Any door(s) is open.
The hood is open.
The tailgate is in the process of closing or is not fully closed.
The vehicle’s ignition is switched on.

No audible mislock error warning sounds. The hazard warning lights do not flash, and the power-fold mirrors, if enabled, do not fold in.

Make sure that the vehicle’s ignition is switched off, and that all of the doors, the hood, and the tailgate are closed properly. Lock the vehicle again. If the mislock persists, consult a retailer/authorized repairer.

WALK-AWAY LOCKING

This feature is not available on your vehicle at this time.

ALARM DEACTIVATION

It is possible to temporarily disable the activation of the alarm sensors when the vehicle is locked. When the ignition is switched off, an instructional message is displayed on the instrument panel detailing how to deactivate the alarm.

LOCK CONFIRMATION

If uncertain about the vehicle’s locked and armed status, press the lock button on the smart key. With keyless entry, touch a lock button on an exterior door handle. The hazard warning lights flash once to indicate and confirm the current lock status. One short flash means that the vehicle is single locked.

MISLOCK

When locking the vehicle with the smart key, a mislock can occur if:

One or more of the doors, the hood, or the tailgate is not fully closed.
The ignition is switched on.
A smart key is left inside the vehicle.

If any of the above are present, the vehicle does not lock and an audible mislock error warning sounds. The hazard warning lights do not flash and the power-fold mirrors (if enabled) do not fold in. Check that all of the doors, the hood, and the tailgate are closed properly. Make sure the ignition is switched off and lock the vehicle again. If the mislock persists, consult a retailer/authorized repairer.

NOTES
Operating the interior or exterior door handles, while attempting to unlock, lock, or change the child lock status of the vehicle including drive-away locking, may cause the security system to ignore any unlock, lock, or child lock requests.

DOOR LOCKS AND HANDLES

WARNING
While a door is open, the locking latch is exposed. If the latch has the soft-close feature, do not attempt to manually close the latch. It may automatically soft-close and trap items or body parts.

Lock button: Press to lock. With all of the doors closed, press a lock button to lock all of the doors.
Unlock button: Press to unlock. Press an unlock button to unlock all of the doors and the tailgate. Alternatively, pull either front door handle (3) once to unlock all of the doors.
Door handle: Pull to unlock and open a front door. To unlock a rear door, pull the individual door handle.

NOTES
If the vehicle is locked with the smart key, operating an interior door handle unlocks only that door. If the door is opened, the alarm sounds.

NOTES
The rear door child safety locks inhibit the rear door lock and unlock buttons and the interior door handles. See CHILD SAFETY LOCKS.

AUTOMATIC RE-LOCKING AND RE-ARMING OF THE ALARM

The security system disarms automatically when the vehicle is unlocked with a smart key. However, if a door is not opened within 40 seconds, the security system re-engages the locks and the alarm re-arms. Automatic re-locking and re-arming is a precautionary action to protect the vehicle when it is unintentionally left unlocked.

BATTERY BACK-UP SOUNDER

When the security system is armed, the battery back-up sounder activates if:

The vehicle’s 12V battery is disconnected.
An attempt is made to disconnect the alarm’s siren.
An attempt is made to disconnect the battery back-up sounder.

DEACTIVATING THE ALARM WHEN TRIGGERED

If the alarm activates, it can be deactivated by any one of the following methods:

Press the unlock button on the smart key. See SMART KEY OPERATION.
Open a door using keyless entry. See KEYLESS ENTRY.
Press the START/STOP button with a valid smart key inside the vehicle. See STARTING THE ENGINE.

The cause of the last alarm activation can be displayed in the Vehicle menu in the touchscreen. See SYSTEM SETTINGS.

EMERGENCY LOCKING

NOTES
Do not leave the emergency key blade in the vehicle at any point during the emergency locking procedure.

In the event of a fault with the alarm and/or locking system, manually secure the vehicle. Lock all of the doors via the driver’s door key barrel.

The emergency key blade is required for this procedure. See SMART KEY OPERATION.

Using the emergency key:

Make sure all apertures are closed and insert the emergency key blade into the key barrel on the driver door.
Turn the emergency key blade 90° clockwise.
All of the doors single lock and access to the loadspace is inhibited.
Pull the exterior door handles to check that the doors are locked. When doing so, make sure any valid smart keys are at least 79 in (2 m) away from the doors.

If the issue persists, consult a retailer/authorized repairer for rectification as soon as possible.

In the event of the battery discharging, each of the doors must be locked manually.

The emergency key blade is required for this procedure. See SMART KEY OPERATION.

Using the emergency key:

Open a door and locate the emergency lock access cover on the edge of the door. The cover has an embossed lock icon. Insert the emergency key blade into the cover’s slot. Rotate the cover counter-clockwise to first release it. Pull the cover to remove it from the door. Keep the lock’s access cover safe.
Insert the emergency key blade firmly into the emergency lock. A firm push activates the door’s locking mechanism. Remove the emergency key blade.
Refit the access cover. Rotate the cover clockwise to secure it firmly.
Close the door and check that it is locked.

Repeat the procedure for all other unlocked doors.
