2022 Land Rover Discovery Load Carrying

LOAD CARRYING

WARNING

Never allow passengers to travel in the loadspace under any circumstances. All vehicle occupants should be seated correctly and should wear a seat belt at all times when the vehicle is in motion. Failure to do so can lead to serious injury or death in the event of an accident.

WARNING

All items carried in the vehicle should be properly secured. If the vehicle is involved in an accident or subject to sudden braking or a change of direction, loose items can cause serious injury.

LOADSPACE COVER

WARNING

Do not store the loadspace cover lose in the vehicle. During an accident or sudden maneuver, loose objects can cause serious injury or death.

Never place objects on top of the loadspace cover. During an accident or sudden maneuver, loose objects can cause serious injury or death.

WARNING

To avoid injury the loadspace cover must not be left in the installed position when the third-row seats are occupied.

CAUTION

Remove the stored loadspace cover before moving the seats. Failure to do so may result in damage to the loadspace cover.

CAUTION

Do not attempt to raise the second-row seatbacks into the upright position when the loadspace cover is stored behind the second-row seats. Doing so may result in damage to the vehicle.

CAUTION

Do not attempt to tip the second-row seatbacks forward, for third-row access, with the loadspace cover stored behind the second-row seats. Doing so may result in damage to the vehicle.

  1. Pull the rigid portion of the cover to unroll.
  2. Engage the end pieces into the recessed areas molded into the loadspace sides. To retract the loadspace cover, disengage the ends from the recessed areas and allow the soft portion of the cover to retract into its housing.
  3. To remove the cover, turn the release lever to unlock the assembly and disengage the pins from the sockets.

To refit the cover, engage the left side of the assembly into the recessed area. Engage the right side and push down into place until an audible click is heard.

To store the loadspace cover:

  1. Fold the flap (1) underneath the loadspace cover, as illustrated.
  2. Locate the loadspace cover into the recesses in the side trim panels.
CAUTION

Make sure that the flap is folded underneath the loadspace cover. Failure to do so may result in damage to the cover.

THIRD ROW SEAT BELTS:
WARNING

Never place the loadspace cover behind the second row of seats, if the third row is to be occupied. Failure to do so may result in damage to the cover.

The loadspace cover can be used with the third-row seat belts still connected.

To allow the loadspace cover to be unrolled and retracted, without fouling on the seat belt, place the seat belt into the trim clip. The trim clip is located at the rear of the loadspace.

TAILGATE BLIND:
CAUTION

If items carried in the loadspace are higher than the loadspace cover, remove the tailgate blind to prevent damage to the blind and/or the items.

  1. Tailgate blind.
  2. Central clip.
  3. Outer clips.

To remove the tailgate blind:

  • Carefully release the central clip (2).
  • Release the two outer clips (3).
  • Store the tailgate blind securely in the vehicle.
WARNING

Do not store the tailgate blind loose in the vehicle. During an accident or sudden maneuver, the tailgate blind could cause serious injury or death.

To install the tailgate blind:

  • Align the central clip (2) and the two outer clips (3).
  • Secure the central clip in the tailgate.
  • Fully locate the two outer clips.

POWERED INNER TAILGATE

WARNING

Before operating the tailgate, make sure that anyone in the vicinity does not have any body part in a position where it could be trapped. Death or serious injury could occur, even with an object detection system.
The primary functions of the powered inner tailgate are as a loading platform and for social seating.
The powered inner tailgate operates automatically when the smart key or the kick gesture is used to open or close the tailgate. See SMART KEY OPERATION and GESTURE TAILGATE.
The powered inner tailgate does not operate when the interior or exterior tailgate buttons are used to open or close the tailgate.

Powered inner tailgate operation:

Press the button shown in the illustration to open, stop, reverse direction, or close the powered inner tailgate.
Object detection while opening:
If an object is detected that would interfere with the powered inner tailgate opening, the powered inner tailgate movement stops. Remove any obstructions, and press the powered inner tailgate button again to
close/open the powered inner tailgate.
Object detection while closing:
If an object is detected that would interfere with the powered inner tailgate closing, the powered inner tailgate movement stops. If the powered inner tailgate is open, remove any obstructions and press the powered inner tailgate button again to close the powered inner tailgate. If the powered inner tailgate is not open, press the powered inner tailgate button to open the powered inner tailgate and then remove any obstructions. Once the obstructions have been removed, press the powered inner tailgate button to close the powered inner tailgate.

NOTES

The direction of travel of the powered inner tailgate may change after an object has been detected.
Press the tailgate close button to close the powered inner tailgate along with the opened tailgate.
The powered inner tailgate can also be manually operated.

NOTES

When in the lowered position, the maximum weight capacity of the powered inner tailgate is 440 lbs (200 kg).

LUGGAGE ANCHOR POINTS

WARNING

All items carried in the loadspace should be properly secured. If the vehicle is involved in an accident, subject to sudden braking or change of direction, loose items can cause serious injury.

  1. To assist in safely securing large items of luggage, four lashing eyes are located on the loadspace floor.
  2. If adjustable lashing eyes are fitted, turn the locking mechanism counter-clockwise to unlock. Press the mechanism and slide it to the required position in the luggage rail. Release the mechanism to latch into position. Move the lashing eye slightly, until a click is heard. The lashing eye is now secured. Turn the mechanism clockwise to lock.
NOTES

In some markets, a range of approved luggage retention accessories is available from a retailer/authorized repairer.

LUGGAGE DIVIDER

  1. A luggage divider kit is provided to assist with safely securing items of luggage to the loadspace floor. Floor-mounted luggage rails provide a full-width mounting channel that accommodates a flexible retracting band or a solid telescopic divider. Use the flexible retracting band or the solid telescopic divider to retain soft and hard luggage of all shapes and sizes.
    Press and then pull the retracting band until the required length is reached.
    NOTES
  2. The retracting band should only be used along the side of the loadspace floor, as illustrated.
  3. Adjust the divider to the required length.
  4. Unlock the appropriate lashing eye and attach the retracting band and divider.
  5. With the lashing eye in the unlocked position, press the mechanism and slide to the required position in the luggage rail.
  6. Lock the lashing eye in the required position.
  7. To remove the retracting band and divider from the lashing eye, unlock the lashing eye and press the lock or unlock button to release.

SKI HATCH

  1. The ski hatch located in the backrest can be used for transporting long objects.
  2. Press the center release button and fold down the ski hatch panel.
  3. To close the ski hatch panel, push the panel up to the closed position.
