Front Fork
NOTICE
After riding on the normal road, the unpaved road, and in the rainy weather, clean off any dirt (grit, mud or insect etc.) that is stuck to the inner tube before it hardens. If the motorcycle keeps running with the dirt stuck to the inner tube, the oil seal will be damaged and it causes the oil to leak.
Spring Preload Adjustment
The adjuster is located at the top of each front fork.
Standard
8 1/4 turns in In from the fully seated position (turned fully counterclockwise).
- Tum the adjuster clockwise with a wrench to increase spring preload and stiffen the suspension.
- Turn the adjuster counterclockwise to decrease spring preload and soften the suspension.
NOTICE
Do not turn the adjuster beyond the fully seated position or the adjusting mechanism may be damaged.
A. Spring Preload Adjuster
Rebound Damping Force Adjustment
The adjuster is located at the top of each front fork.
Standard
6 clicks Out from the fully seated position (turned fully clockwise).
- Turn the adjuster clockwise with a flat tip screwdriver to increase damping force.
- Turn the adjuster counterclockwise to decrease damping force.
NOTICE
Do not turn the adjuster beyond the fully seated position or the adjusting mechanism may be damaged.
A. Rebound Damping Force Adjuster
Compression Damping Force Adjustment
The adjuster is located at the lower end of the right front fork leg.
Standard
6 clicks Out from the fully seated position (turned fully clockwise).
- Turn the adjuster clockwise with a flat tip screwdriver to increase damping force.
- Turn the adjuster counterclockwise to decrease damping force.
NOTICE
Do not turn the adjuster beyond the fully seated position or the adjusting mechanism may be damaged.
A. Compression Damping Force Adjuster
Rear Shock Absorber
WARNING
- Adjusting the Öhlins shock absorber outside the spring preload and damper adjuster usable range could affect suspension balance and result in an unsafe riding condition. Adjust the spring preload and the damping only within the adjustable usable range.
- When making spring preload and damping adjustments, change the adjuster only one click at a time and confirm the effect of the adjustment before making additional changes. Go back to the standard setting if necessary.
There is no mounting instruction because the original Kawasaki setting is given as for this shock absorber. Öhlins can accept the overhaul of your shock absorber at your cost. However, if the setting parts of the absorber is changed, it shall be excluded from the Kawasaki warranty.

10 turns in In from the fully seated position (turned fully counterclockwise).
- Turn the adjuster clockwise to in- crease spring preload.
- Turn the adjuster counterclockwise to decrease spring preload.

18 clicks Out from the fully seated position (turned fully clockwise).
- Turn the adjuster clockwise to increase damping force.
- Turn the adjuster counterclockwise to decrease damping force.

Öhlins Recommended Service Interval
Öhlins recommends an overhaul in the following interval.
Regular Street Use:
Every 30 OOO km (18 750 mile) or 3 years When the service is necessary, ask an authorized Kawasaki dealer.

This position is the fully seated position (turned fully clockwise). Out from the fully seated position (tumed fully clockwise). This adjustment range may not exactly match the number shown in the table due to small tolerance of production.
Rear Shock Absorber Spring Preload Setting
In from the fully seated position (turned fully counterclockwise). This adjustment range may not exactly match the number shown in the table due to the small tolerance of production.
Rear Shock Absorber Damping Force Setting
- This position is the fully seated position (turned fully clockwise).
- Out from the fully seated position (turned fully clockwise). This adjustment range may not exactly match the number shown in the table due to the small tolerance of production.
