Idle Speed Adjustment
- Start the engine, and warm it up thoroughly.
- Adjust the idle speed by turning the idle adjusting screw.
NOTE
While the engine is cold, the fast idle system automatically raises the engine idling speed.
Idle Speed
WARNING
The engine and exhaust system get extremely hot during normal operation and can cause serious burns. Never touch a hot engine or an exhaust pipe during idle speed adjustment.
- Open and close the throttle a few times to make sure that the idle speed does not change. Readjust if
necessary. - With the engine idling, turn the handlebars to each side. If handlebars movement changes the idle speed, the throttle cables may be improperly adjusted or incorrectly routed, or they may be damaged. Be sure to correct any of these conditions before riding.
WARNING
Operation with damaged cables could result in an unsafe riding conditions. Replace damaged control cables before operation.
