Tire Pressure Inspection
- Use a tire warmer to heat the tire before checking the tire pressure.
- Remove the air valve cap.
- Check the tire pressure often, using an accurate gauge.
- Make sure to install the air valve cap securely.
NOTE
- Tire pressure is affected by changes in ambient temperature and altitude, so the tire pressure should be checked and adjusted when your riding involves wide variations in temperature or altitude.
- When storing your motorcycle, use front and rear stands and keep the tires off the floor.
WARNING
Cold tires do not provide good grip and may cause loss of control or a crash resulting in injury or death. To prevent loss of grip, use tire warmers to heat the tires before riding for an hour.
A. Tire Pressure Gauge
Tire Air Pressure (when warm)
- Front
- 220 kPa (2.20 kgf/cm2, 32 psi)
- Rear
- 260 kPa (2.60 kgf/cm2, 38 psi)
Tire Wear, Damage
Some dimples in the tire tread wear indicators. Unlike tires for high-way use, the performance of racing tires may drop of considerably before reaching the wear limit. If you feel the tires are losing performance, replace them immediately. The deterioration of tires that have been used once may vary depending on the usage, environment, and storage conditions. It is recommended not to use used tires again.
A. Dimples
Visually inspect the tire for cracks and cuts, replacing the tire in case of bad damage. Swelling or high spots indicate internal damage, requiring tire replacement.
NOTE
- Has the wheel balance been inspected whenever a new tire is installed?
