Tightening Torques of Nuts and Bolts

Location of nuts and bolts

Before the first ride of each day of operation, check the tightness of the nuts and bolts shown below. Check also that all cotter pins are in place and in good condition.

1. Front Fork Clamp Bolts
2. Clutch Master Cylinder Clamp Bolts
3. Handlebar Clamp Bolts
4. Rear Frame Mounting Bolts
5. Rear Shock Absorber Nuts
6. Spoke Nipples
7. Front Axle Clamp Bolts
8. Front Brake Disc Mounting Bolts
9. Front Axle Nut
10. Front Caliper Mounting Bolts
11. Engine Sprocket Nut
12. Swingarm Pivot Shaft Nut
13. Side Stand Bolt and Nut (KX450K)
14. Rear Sprocket Nuts

1. Front Brake Master Cylinder Clamp Bolts
2. Steering Stem Head Nut
3. Steering Stem Nut
4. Handlebar Holder Nuts
5. Rear Brake Master Cylinder Mounting Bolts
6. Rear Brake Disc Mounting Bolts
7. Rear Axle Nut
8. Rocker Arm Pivot Nut
9. Tie-Rod Mounting Nuts
10. Brake Pedal Bolt

Torque Table

Tighten all nuts and bolts to the proper torque using an accurate torque wrench. An insufficiently tightened nut or bolt may become damaged or fall out, possibly resulting in damage to the motorcycle and injury to the rider. An overtightened nut or bolt may become damaged, broken, or tall Out.

• AL: Tighten the two clamp bolts alternately two times to ensure even tightening torque.
• G: Apply grease.
• L: Apply a non-permanent locking agent.
• R: Replacement Parts
• S: Follow the specified tightening sequence.
