Throttle Cable Adjustment
Inspect the throttle grip for smooth operation in all steering positions. Check and adjust the throttle cable in accordance with the Periodic Maintenance Chart. Check that the throtle grip has 2 3 mm (0.08. 0.12 in.) of play and turns smoothly.

If the play is incorrect, loosen the locknut on the upper end of the accelerator cable and turn the adjuster to obtain the specified play. Then, tighten the locknut toward the adjuster.

With the engine idling, turn the handlebars both ways and check if handlebars movement changes the idle speed. If so, the throttle cable may be improperly adjusted or incorrectly routed, or dam- aged. Be sure to correct any of these conditions before riding.
WARNING
Operation with improperly adjusted, incorrectly routed, or damaged cables could re- sult in an unsafe riding condition. Be sure the control cables are adjusted and routed correctly, and are free from damage.
