Daily Pre-Ride Checks

Check the following items each day before you ride. The time required is minimal, and the habitual performance of these checks will help ensure a safe, reliable ride. If any irregularities are found during these checks, contact an authorized Kawasaki dealer. Temporary meaSures methods are described on each page.

Failure to perform these checks before operation may result in serious damage or an accident. Al- ways perform daily checks before operation.

DANGER
Exhaust gas contains carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless poisonous gas. Inhaling carbon  monoxide can cause serious brain injury or death. DO NOT run the engine in enclosed areas. Operate only in a well-ventilated area.

Engine

  1. Engine Oil
    1. No leakage
    2. Level correct
  2. Coolant
    1. No leakage
    2. Level correct (engine cold)
  3. Radiator Cap Properly installed
  4. Clutch
    1. Functions properly
    2. Lever play correct
  5. Spark Plug Correctly torqued
  6. Air Cleaner
    1. Clean
    2. Apply oil to air cleaner element if dry Properly installed
  7. Muffler
    1. No damage
    2. Properly installed
  8. Engine Sprocket Properly installed

Frame

  1. Tires
    1. No damage or excessively wear
    2. Air pressure correct
    3. Air valve cap installed
    4. Bead protector nut properly tightened
  2. Spokes No looseness
  3. Drive Chain
    1. Overall condition good
    2. Chain slack correct
    3. Lubricate if necessary
  4. Front and Rear Brakes
    1. Function properly
    2. Lever and pedal play correct
    3. No fluid leakage
  5. Throttle
    1. Functions properly
    2. Throttle grip returns smoothly
  6. Steering
    1. Smooth but not loose from lock to lock
    2. No binding due to control cables
  7. Front Fork
    1. Functions properly
    2. No oil leakage
  8. Rear Shock Absorber
    1. Functions properly
    2. No oil leakage
  9. Fuel Tank
    1. Mounted securely
    2. No fuel leakage
  10. Rear Sprocket No wear or damage
  11. Electrical equipment Functions properly
  12. Engine Stop Button Functions properly
  13. Main Switch Functions properly
  14. Side stand
    1. Return to its fully up position by spring tension
    2. Return spring not weak or not damaged
  15. Nuts, Bolts, Fasteners Properly tightened .
