Starting the Engine
- Turn the fuel tap lever to the ON position.
- Shift the transmission into neutral.
- A. ON Position
NOTE
- This motorcycle is equipped with a neutral switch that prevents the engine from starting when the transmission is not in neutral.
- Check that the engine stop switch is in position.

WARNING
Riding with the side stand in the down position can cause a crash resulting in injury. Do not start the engine or attempt to ride the motorcycle when the side stand is down.
NOTICE
- Do not operate the starter continuously for more than 5 seconds, or the starter will overheat and the battery power will drop temporarily.
- Wait 15 seconds between each operation of the starter to let it cool and the battery power recovers.
When the engine is cold
- Pull the choke knob fully up.A. Choke Knob
- With the throttle closed, push the starter button until the engine starts.
NOTE
When the clutch lever is pulled, the motorcycle can be started with the transmission in any gear.

Allow the engine to warm thoroughly then push the choke knob fully down before moving off.
NOTE
Once the engine has warmed or on a hot day, partially open the throttle instead of using the choke.
NOTICE
Do not let the engine idle longer than five minutes, or engine overheating and damage may occur.
NOTICE
Operating the engine at high engine speeds with the choke knob pulled can result in carburetor or engine damage.
