Daily Pre-Ride Checks

  • Check the following items each day before you ride. The time required is minimal, and the habitual performance of these checks will help ensure a safe, reliable ride.
  • If any irregularities are found during these checks, refer to the appropriate section and take the action required to return the motorcycle to a safe operating condition.

WARNING
Failure to perform these checks before the operation may result in serious damage or an accident. Always to perform daily checks before operation.

DANGER
Exhaust gas contains carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless poisonous gas. Inhaling carbon monoxide can cause serious brain injury or death. DO NOT run the engine in enclosed areas. Operate only in a well-ventilated area.

  1. Engine Oil No leakage Level correct
  2. Clutch    Functions properly
  3. Spark Plug  Correctly torqued
  4. Carburetor  Properly adjusted Idle speed: (KLX140A/B) 1 350 1 450 r/min (rpm) (KLX140C) 1 400 1 600 r/min (rpm)
  5. Air Cleaner Clean Apply oil to air cleaner element if dry Properly installed
  6. Muffler  No damage
  7. Engine Sprocket
    1. Properly installed
    2. Not worn or damaged
  8. Frame
  9. Tires
    1. Overall condition good
    2. No wear or damage
    3. Air pressure correct
    4. Air valve cap installed
  10. Spokes
    1. No looseness
  11. Drive Chain
    1. Overall condition good
    2. Chain slack correct
    3. Oil if necessary
  12. Front and Rear Brakes
    1. Function properly
    2. The lever and pedal play correctly
    3. No leakage
  13. Throttle
    1. Functions properly
    2. The throttle grip returns smoothly
  14. Steering
    1. Smooth but not loose from lock to lock
    2. No binding due to control cables
  15. Front Fork
    1. Functions properly
    2. No leakage
  16. Rear Shock Absorber
    1. Functions properly
    2. No leakage
  17. Fuel Tank
    1. Mounted securely
    2. No leakage
  18. Rear Sprocket
    1. No wear or damage
  19. Electrical equipment
    1. Functions properly
  20. Engine Stop Switch
    1. Functions properly
  21. Nuts, Bolts, Fasteners
    1. Properly tightened
