The following procedure covers the idle adjustment, which should be performed whenever the idle speed is disturbed.
ladle Speed Adjustment
- Thoroughly warm up the engine.
DANGER
Exhaust gas contains carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless poisonous gas. Inhaling carbon monoxide can cause serious brain injury or death. DO NOT run the engine in enclosed areas. Operate only in a well-ventilated area.
WARNING
The engine and exhaust system get extremely hot during normal operation and can cause serious burns. Never touch a hot engine or an exhaust pipe during idle speed adjustment.
- Adjust the idle speed1 to 600 1 700 r/min (rpm) by turning the idle adjusting screw.

- Open and close the throttle a few times to make
sure the idle speed does not change and readjust if necessary. - With the engine idling, turn the handlebar both ways and check if handlebar movement changes the idle speed. If so, the throttle cable may be im- properly adjusted, incorrectly routed, or damaged. Be sure to correct any of these conditions before riding.
WARNING
Operation with a damaged cable could result in an unsafe riding conditions. Replace a damaged control cable before operation.
