Starting the Engine
- Check that the engine stop switch is in the position.

Push down the key knob and release it while carrying the FOB. Turn the key knob to “ON” while the key knob indicator is displayed for 5 seconds.
NOTE
- The turn signal indicators and turn signal lights blink two times when the key knob is pushed in and turned to “ON.”

NOTE
- While the engine is cold, the fast idle system automatically raises the engine idling speed. At this time, the warning indicatorimmobilizer indica- tor may go on and the Fl warning indi- cator and message are displayed al- ternately in the multifunction meter if you operate the throttle grip unnec necessarily.
- The motorcycle is equipped with a vehicle-down sensor which causes the engine to stop automatically if the motorcycle falls down. The warning indicator/immobilizer indicator blinks when the starter button is pressed if the engine cannot be started. After righting the motorcycle, first, turn the key knob to “OFF” and then back to “ON” before starting the engine.
- without holding the throttle grip, push the starter button to start the engine.
NOTICE
Do not operate the starter continuously for more than 5 seconds, or the starter will overheat and the battery power will drop temporarily. Wait 15 seconds between each operation of the starter to let it cool and the battery power recovers.
NOTE
- The motorcycle is equipped with a starter lockout switch. This switch is designed so that the engine does not start if the transmission is in gear and the side stand is down. However, the engine can be started if the clutch lever is pulled and the side stand is fully up.

Do not let the engine idle longer than five minutes, or engine overheating and damage may occur.
