SINGLE LOCKING

WARNING
Before exiting the vehicle, always make sure of the following: Park (P) gear is selected. The engine is switched off. The Electric Parking Brake (EPB) is applied. The smart key is removed from the vehicle. Failure to adhere to any of the above may lead to serious personal injuries or death.
CAUTION
No modifications or additions should be made to the security system. Such changes could cause the system to malfunction.
NOTES
In some markets, the full alarm system, including the alarm sensors, is armed when the vehicle is single locked. The alarm sensors can be enabled and disabled, for one alarm cycle only, via the Vehicle app in System Settings. See SYSTEM SETTINGS.

Briefly press the lock button on the smart key to lock the vehicle and arm the perimetric alarm. The hazard warning lightsshort flash once to confirm.

Single locking secures the vehicle and prevents the doors from being opened from the outside. The doors may still be unlocked and opened from inside the vehicle.

NOTES
The single locking setting should be used in circumstances when a window must be left open, e.g., if pets remain in the vehicle.

Once armed, the alarm activates if:

  1. The hood, trunk, or a door is opened.
  2. The engine START/STOP button is pressed without a valid smart key present.
  3. The vehicle’s battery is disconnected (if a battery backed sounder is fitted).
  4. An attempt is made to disconnect the alarm’s siren.
  5. An attempt is made to disconnect the battery back-up sounder (if fitted).
NOTES
Always secure the vehicle when left unattended. Where possible, always secure the vehicle to the maximum available level of security.

LOCK CONFIRMATION

If uncertain whether the vehicle is locked and armed, press the lock button on the smart key. With keyless entry, press an exterior door handle lock button. The hazard warning lights flash once to indicate and confirm the current lock status (One short Flash = Single Locked, One Long Flash = Double Locked).

NOTES
If the vehicle is not already locked and armed, press the lock button once to single lock the vehicle. Press the lock button twice within 3 seconds to double lock the vehicle.

KEYLESS LOCKING

NOTES
The smart key may not be detected if it is inside a metal container, or is shielded by a device with a back-lit LCD screen. For example, a smartphone, laptop, including when inside a laptop bag, games console, etc. Keep the smart key clear of such devices when attempting keyless entry, keyless locking, or push button starting.
NOTES
The vehicle does not lock automatically.
NOTES
Loose coins, in the same pocket as the smart key, may also affect its detection.
NOTES
Keyless locking activates only if the smart key is detected outside of the vehicle. If no smart key is present, locking does not occur.

To operate keyless locking:

  • Lock sensor area: To lock the vehicle, only touch the lock sensor once, without grabbing the door handle. The hazard warning lights flash once to confirm locking.
NOTES
Do not grip the door handle while touching the sensor. Doing so prevents the vehicle from locking.

When using keyless locking, the vehicle does not lock when:

  • Any door(s) is open.
  • The hood is open.
  • The trunk is not fully closed.
  • The ignition is switched on.

No audible mislock error warning sounds. The hazard warning lights do not flash and the power-fold mirrors, if enabled, do not fold in. Make sure that the ignition is switched off, and that all of the doors, the hood, and the trunk are closed properly. Lock the vehicle again. If the mislock persists, consult a retailer/authorized repairer.

PASSIVE ARMING

When the passive arming feature is enabled, it automatically arms the perimetric (exterior) alarm system 60 seconds after the driver’s door is closed. All of the other doors, the hood, and the trunk must also be closed before passive arming enables. The ignition must also be switched off with no valid smart keys inside the vehicle. Passive arming does not lock the vehicle, although access to the luggage compartment, via the interior or exterior release buttons, is prevented. Once the peremetric alarm is armed, if any door is opened without a valid smart key in the vicinity, the alarm sounds.

Passive arming can be enabled or disabled by a retailer/authorized repairer.

BATTERY BACK-UP SOUNDER

When the security system is armed, the battery back-up sounder activates if:

  • The vehicle’s 12V battery is disconnected.
  • An attempt is made to disconnect the alarm’s siren.
  • An attempt is made to disconnect the battery back-up sounder.

DOOR LOCKS AND HANDLES

  1. Door handle: Pull to unlock or release the door. Operating a door handle on either front door unlocks all of the doors.
  2. Lock button: Press to lock. With all of the doors closed, press the lock button to lock all of the doors and the trunk or tailgate.
  3. Unlock button: Press to unlock all of the doors and the trunk or tailgate. Alternatively, pull either front door handle (1) once to unlock all of the doors.
NOTES
If the vehicle is locked with the smart key, operating an interior door handle unlocks only that door. If the door is opened, the alarm sounds.
NOTES
The rear door child safety locks inhibit the operation of the rear door lock and unlock buttons and the interior door handles. See CHILD SAFETY LOCKS.

CLEAR EXIT MONITOR

WARNING
Clear exit monitor is a useful aid only. The user is responsible for opening the door with due care and attention. Make sure the door is opened in a manner that is safe for the vehicle, its occupants, and other road users.
CAUTION
Make sure that the clear exit warning light and indicators are not obscured by stickers or other objects. An obscured warning light will impair the user’s ability to utilize the feature, which could cause damage to the vehicle.
CAUTION
Do not attach stickers or objects to the rear bumper that may interfere with the radar sensors. Blocked sensors could impair the operation of the clear exit monitor feature, which could cause damage to the vehicle.

A clear exit monitor warns of another vehicle, or moving object, approaching from behind when the door has been unlatched from the inside. Sensors in the rear bumper monitor nearby traffic. If the system determines that opening the door could be unsafe due to passing traffic, a visible warning is given to the user.

NOTES
Clear exit monitor is fitted to all doors.
NOTES
Clear exit detection does not prevent the door from being opened.

A clear exit monitor becomes active when a front door is unlatched, and the vehicle is stationary or traveling at less than 3 mph (5 km/h). The clear exit monitor remains active for 3 minutes after the vehicle’s ignition is switched off.

A warning light adjacent to the interior door handle illuminates white to confirm the system is active. The warning light illuminates red (1) to indicate that it could be unsafe to open the door due to passing traffic.

The warning light extinguishes after the door has been closed.

A clear exit monitor may not be able to detect all approaching traffic in all circumstances. The operation relies on the sensor’s ability to detect moving objects and may be affected by:

  • Road conditions.
  • Weather conditions.
  • Vehicles approach very quickly from behind.
  • The sensors becoming blocked by mud, rain, frost, ice, snow, accessories, or stickers.
  • The sensors become damaged.
  • The sensor’s line of sight becomes impaired by other objects, such as other vehicles parked extremely close, etc.

A loss of functionality or reduced warning times may be experienced if any of the above occur.

MATLOCK

When locking the vehicle with the smart key, a mislock can occur if:

  1. One or more of the doors, the hood, or the trunk is not fully closed.
  2. The ignition is switched on.
  3. A smart key is left inside the vehicle.

If any of the above are present, the vehicle does not lock and an audible mislock error warning sounds. The hazard warning lights do not flash and the power-fold mirrors, if enabled, do not fold in. Check that all of the doors, the hood, and the trunk are closed properly. Make sure the ignition is switched off and lock the vehicle again. If the mislock persists, consult a retailer/authorized repairer.

NOTES
Operating the interior or exterior door handles while attempting to unlock or lock may cause the security system to ignore any requests.

DEACTIVATING THE ALARM WHEN TRIGGERED

If the alarm activates, it can be deactivated by any one of the following methods:

  • Press the unlock button on the smart key. See SMART KEY OPERATION.
  • Open a door using keyless entry. See KEYLESS ENTRY.
  • Press the START/STOP button with a valid smart key inside the vehicle. See ENGINE START BACKUP.

The cause of the last alarm activation can be displayed via the Vehicle section of the touchscreen System settings menu. See SYSTEM SETTINGS.

EMERGENCY LOCKING

NOTES
Do not leave the emergency key blade in the vehicle at any point during the emergency locking procedure.

In the event of a fault with the alarm and/or locking system, manually secure the vehicle by locking all doors via the driver’s door key barrel.

The emergency key blade is required for this procedure. See SMART KEY OPERATION.

Using the emergency key:

  1. Make sure all apertures are closed and insert the emergency key blade into the driver’s door key barrel.
  2. Turn the emergency key blade 90° clockwise.
  3. All of the doors single lock and access to the luggage compartment is inhibited.
  4. Pull the exterior door handles to check that the doors are locked. When doing so, make sure any valid smart keys are at least 79 in (2 m) away from the doors.

If the issue persists, consult a retailer/authorized repairer for rectification as soon as possible.

In the event of the battery discharging, each of the doors must be locked manually.

The emergency key blade is required for this procedure. See SMART KEY OPERATION.

Using the emergency key:

  1. Press the release button to release the key blade out of the key fob.
  2. Remove the key blade out of the key fob by sliding outwards.
  3. Open a door and locate the emergency lock access cover on the edge of the door. The cover has an embossed lock icon. Insert the emergency key blade into the cover’s slot. Rotate the key to release the cover, then pull it to remove it from the door. Keep the lock access cover safe.
  4. Insert the emergency key blade firmly into the emergency lock. A firm push activates the door’s locking mechanism. Remove the emergency key blade.

Repeat the procedure for all other unlocked doors.

SENSOR FAULTS

If a fault is detected with a security sensor, an audible warning sounds from the alarm when the vehicle is unlocked. If this condition occurs, please visit a retailer/authorized repairer for rectification.
