2022 Jaguar XF Driving Modes

DRIVING MODES OVERVIEW

Different driving modes can be selected to suit the current driving conditions or driving style.

Each driving mode adjusts the performance and handling characteristics of the vehicle.

The following driving modes are available:

  • Rain ice snow mode. See RAIN ICE SNOW MODE.
  • Dynamic mode. See DYNAMIC MODE.
  • Configurable dynamic mode. See CONFIGURABLE DYNAMIC MODE.
  • Comfort mode. See COMFORT MODE.
  • ECO mode. See ECO MODE.
  • Adaptive Surface Response (AdSR). See ADAPTIVE SURFACE RESPONSE (AdSR).

The comfort driving mode is automatically selected when the vehicle’s ignition is switched on. An alternative driving mode can be selected if required. See DRIVING MODES OPERATION.

Information on the currently selected driving mode can be viewed via the All Surface Information (ASI) feature. See ALL SURFACE INFORMATION (ASI).

DRIVING MODES OPERATION

The driving mode control is located on the center console. Use the control to scroll through the different driving modes.

The instrument panel displays the relevant driving mode icon and a temporary message confirming which driving mode is selected.

NOTES

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) operation is automatically adapted to suit the selected driving mode. See DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL (DSC) OVERVIEW.

RAIN ICE SNOW MODE

The rain ice snow driving mode helps to enhance the vehicle’s stability in low grip conditions.

Select the rain ice snow driving mode when driving in adverse weather conditions. For example, in icy or rainy conditions and on surfaces such as grass, gravel, or snow.

The rain ice snow driving mode helps the vehicle to perform in a gentle and controlled manner, avoiding skidding and improving progress in adverse conditions.

Winter tires and all-season tires also help to further enhance the vehicle’s stability in adverse weather conditions.

NOTES

Some vehicles may be fitted with Adaptive Surface Response (AdSR) instead of the rain ice snow driving mode. See ADAPTIVE SURFACE RESPONSE (AdSR).

DYNAMIC MODE

Dynamic mode adjusts the vehicle’s control systems to create a more dynamic driving experience.

When the dynamic driving mode and Sport (S) are selected, and manual gear changes are being made, transmission up-shifts are fully controlled by the driver. The transmission does not up-shift automatically, even if the engine’s revolutions per minute (rpm) limit is reached.

The instrument panel briefly illuminates the gearshift indicator warning lamp at the recommended up-shift gear change point. See GEARSHIFT (GREEN).

Dynamic mode can be configured to meet personal preferences. See CONFIGURABLE DYNAMIC MODE.

CONFIGURABLE DYNAMIC MODE

The DYNAMIC-I feature allows the driver to configure a unique dynamic mode profile.

Dynamic and Comfort options are individually available for the EngineSteeringGear Shift and Suspension. See SET UP.

A unique dynamic mode profile can be selected in the same way as a standard driving mode.

COMFORT MODE

Select the comfort driving mode when driving on-road and on surfaces which are similar to a hard road surface. For example, dry cobbles and dry wooden planks.

Select the comfort driving mode when the need for any other driving mode has passed.

ECO MODE

The ECO driving mode adjusts various vehicle systems and features in order to reduce energy consumption and increase fuel efficiency.

The ECO driving mode can be used in conjunction with the ECO DATA feature. The ECO DATA feature comprises a number of touchscreen displays designed to encourage a more efficient driving style. See APPS SCREEN.

When selected, the ECO driving mode:

  • Switches off the heated or climate seats.
  • Switches off the heated steering wheel.
  • Sets the auto blower speed to low.
  • May reduce the audio volume.

In addition. the performance of the climate system may be affected.

The ECO DATA feature monitors, displays, and records the driver’s manual inputs on the touchscreen. Automatic inputs, e.g., adaptive cruise control acceleration, are not monitored, displayed, or recorded. Items not being monitored or recorded are grayed out.

NOTES

The ECO DATA feature only begins recording data after the vehicle has traveled at least 1 mile (1 km).

ECO COACH

The Eco coach feature predicts the road ahead and advises when it is possible to lift off of the accelerator pedal in order to save fuel.

The feature automatically activates when ECO mode is selected. The instrument panel displays the ECO coach icon to inform the driver the feature is active.

NOTES

The Eco coach feature can be switched on and off when certain driving modes are selected. See ECO COACH SETTINGS.

The ECO coach icon changes to advise the driver when it is possible to lift off of the accelerator pedal.

NOTES

The navigation system must have the latest software installed in order for the ECO coach feature to operate accurately. See MAP UPDATES.

The Eco coach feature displays icons in the instrument panel to advise the driver of situations ahead that may allow the accelerator pedal to be released. The icons displayed are as follows:

NOTES

The icons only display when the driver assistance instrument panel view is selected. See INSTRUMENT PANEL MENU OPTIONS.

  1. Change of speed limit.
  2. Downhill gradient.
  3. Junction.
  4. Crossroads.
  5. Traffic island.
  6. Right bend.
  7. Left bend.

ECO COACH SETTINGS

The Eco coach feature predicts the road ahead and advises when it is possible to lift off of the accelerator pedal in order to save fuel. See ECO COACH.

If the comfort driving mode is selected, the feature can be switched on and off as follows:

  1. Touch the settings icon on the touchscreen.
  2. Select vehicle.
  3. Select Driver Assistance.
  4. Select Cruise and Speed Assistance.
  5. Touch the Eco coach toggle.

ADAPTIVE SURFACE RESPONSE (ADSR)

Adaptive Surface Response (AdSR) detects different driving surfaces and automatically adjusts the vehicle’s performance and handling characteristics to improve progress in challenging conditions.

Select AdSR when traveling in adverse weather and driving conditions.

Winter tires and all-season tires also help to further enhance the vehicle’s stability in adverse weather conditions.

The low traction launch feature can also be used to further enhance low speed maneuvering and pulling away from a standstill in adverse conditions. See LOW TRACTION LAUNCH.

NOTES

Some vehicles may be fitted with the rain ice snow driving mode instead of AdSR. See RAIN ICE SNOW MODE.
