FRONT SEAT SAFETY

Make sure that you have read and fully understood the following warnings before using any of the features in this section. Failure to observe cautions and warnings may result in vehicle damage, injury, or DEATH in the event of an accident.

WARNING
Do not adjust the seat while the vehicle is moving.
WARNING
Take care when retrieving items that have fallen down the side, back, front or underneath the seat. Always stop the vehicle before retrieving items.
WARNING
Seat belts must be snug against the hips and chest to work properly. The more the seatback is reclined, the greater the chance of an occupant’s hips sliding under the lap section of the seat belt. The occupant’s neck could also strike the shoulder belt. Drivers and passengers should always sit well back in the seat, be properly belted, and have the seatbacks in an upright position.
WARNING
Never adjust the driver’s seat while the vehicle is moving.
WARNING
Make sure that the area immediately surrounding the seat is clear of obstructions before activating the seat memory function.
NOTES
Before attempting to perform any repairs on a vehicle, consult a retailer/authorized repairer.

ELECTRIC SEATS

WARNING

Make sure to read and fully understand the relevant warnings before using any of the features in this section. See FRONT SEAT SAFETY.

Adjust the position of the front seats as follows:

  1. Seatback angle.
  2. Lumbar support.
  3. Forward and rearward position.
  4. Cushion tilt.
  5. Seat height.

The smart key must be in the vehicle and the ignition switched on to adjust the seats.

If an obstruction is encountered while the seat is in motion, the seat stops moving. Further movement is restricted until the seat is reset.

To reset the seat:

  1. Remove the obstruction.
  2. Adjust the seat to the point where movement is restricted.
  3. Press and hold the switch for at least two seconds to override the restriction.

RESTRICTED FRONT SEAT TRAVEL

WARNING
Make sure that you have read and fully understood the relevant warnings before using any of the features in this section. See FRONT SEAT SAFETY.
CAUTION
If seat movement stops unexpectedly during adjustment, check for, and remove, any obstructions. An obstruction may cause damage to the seat mechanism.

If front seat travel is restricted or obstructed, reset the seat adjustment mechanism, as follows:

  1. Remove the obstruction.
  2. Adjust the seat to the point where movement stopped.
  3. Press and hold the switch for at least 2 seconds to override the restriction.
NOTES
If no obstructions can be seen, but normal adjustment cannot be carried out without stalling, contact a retailer/authorized repairer.

SITTING IN THE CORRECT POSITION

WARNING
Make sure that you have read and fully understood the relevant warnings before using any of the features in this section. See FRONT SEAT SAFETY.

The seat, head restraint, seat belt, and air bags all contribute to the protection of the user. Correct use of these components gives greater protection. Therefore, always observe the following points:

  1. Sit in an upright position, with the base of the spine as far back as possible. To achieve optimum benefit of the seat belt in the event of an accident, do not recline the seat excessively.
  2. Do not move the driver’s seat too close to the steering wheel. Ideally, a minimum distance of 10 in (254 mm) is recommended between the breastbone and the air bag cover of the steering wheel. Hold the steering wheel in the correct position, with arms slightly bent.
  3. Adjust the head restraint so that the top of the head restraint is above the centerline of the head.
  4. Position the seat belt so that it is midway between the neck and shoulder. Fit the strap tightly across the hips, not across the stomach.

Make sure that the driving position is comfortable, enabling full control of the vehicle.

SEAT POSITION MEMORY

WARNING
Make sure that you have read and fully understood the relevant warnings before using any of the features in this section. See FRONT SEAT SAFETY.

When a preferred seating position has been reached, the settings can be stored for future use. See ADJUSTING THE STEERING WHEEL and DOOR MIRRORS.

  1. Press the memory set button to activate the memory function.
  2. Press one of the preset buttons within 5 seconds to memorize the current settings. When the driver’s settings are memorized, the instrument panel displays a confirmation message.
    NOTES
A seat position only stores during the 5 second active period.
    NOTES
Any existing settings are over-written when storing a new memory position.

Press the relevant preset button to recall a stored position.

When a driver’s seat position is recalled, the instrument panel displays a confirmation message.
