Do not adjust the seat while the vehicle is moving. Doing so could potentially cause a loss of vehicle control and personal injury.
Take care when retrieving items that have fallen down the side, back, front, or underneath the seat. Sharp objects may be present in these areas, which could present a risk of injury. Always stop the vehicle before retrieving items.
Adjust the position of the front seats as follows:
The smart key must be in the vehicle and the ignition switched on to adjust the seats.
If an obstruction is encountered while the seat is in motion, the seat stops moving. Further movement is restricted until the seat is reset.
To reset the seat:
Riding with a reclined seatback increases the chance of serious or fatal injuries in the event of a collision or sudden stop. The protection provided by the restraint system, both seat belts, and airbags, is greatly reduced by reclining the seat. Seat belts must be snug against the hips and chest to work properly. The more the seatback is reclined, the greater the chance that an occupant’s hips will slide under the lap belt. The occupant’s neck may also strike the shoulder belt. Drivers and passengers should always sit well back in the seat, be properly belted, and have the seat back in an upright position.
Do not sit or lean unnecessarily close to an airbag. An inflating airbag can cause serious injury or even death. Always fasten the seat belt properly. Position the seat to sit as far back as possible from the airbag while still being able to comfortably reach all controls.
Never adjust the driver’s seat while the vehicle is moving. Any sudden or unexpected movement of the seat could cause a loss of control of the vehicle, potentially resulting in an accident.
The seat and integrated head restraints, seat belts, and airbags all contribute to the protection of the user. Correct use of these components gives greater protection. Therefore, the following points must be observed:
Make sure that the driving position is comfortable and allows full control of the vehicle to be maintained.
When the correct driving position has been reached, the settings can be memorized using the driver memory buttons. The driver memory buttons memorize the settings for the driver’s seat, steering column, and door mirrors.
When the passenger seat has been adjusted to the required position, the settings can be memorized using the passenger memory buttons.
To memorize a setting:
A seat position can only be memorized during the 5-second period.
Any existing memory settings are overwritten when programming a new memory position.
Before activating the seat memory, make sure that the area immediately surrounding the seat is clear of obstructions. All occupants must be clear of any moving parts.
Press the appropriate memory preset button to recall a memorized position. When a driver’s seat position is recalled, the instrument panel displays a confirmation message.
