2022 Kawasaki NINJA H2 SX SE Ignition Switch/Steering Lock Owner’s Manual
Ignition Switch/Steering Lock
The KIPASS-equipped models can start the engine and lock the steering by only carrying the FOB (portable key). This is a three-position, key-operated switch. The key knob can not be removed.
NOTE
Forcible operation of the ignition switch may cause the any malfunction.
When the key knob is pushed in, the key knob indicator goes on. The key knob can be turned to ON, OFF, or LOCK positions while the key knob indicator goes on. Make sure the key knob is the correct position. The key knob indicator goes on means that the FOB is correctly certificated.
NOTE
If the ignition switch is repeatedly operated, the protection circuit operates and the ignition switch does not operate temporarily.
For locking:
- Turn the handlebars fully to the left.
- Push the key knob down in the OFF position and turn it to LOCK.
NOTE
lf KIPASS is failed, the steering may not be locked. Have the KIPASS checked by an authorized Kawasaki dealer?
WARNING
Turning the ignition switch to the “OFF” position while riding the motorcycle shuts down the entire electrical system (head-light, brake light, turn signal light, etc.) and the engine will stop, which could cause an accident resulting in severe injury or death. Never operate the ignition switches while riding the motorcycle; only operate it when the motorcycle is at a standstill.
NOTE
- The tail, city, and license plate lights are on whenever the key knob is in the ON position. The headlight goes on when the starter button is released after starting the engine.
- Do not leave the key knob at the ON position for an extended time with the engine stopped, or the battery may become totally discharged.
- If the FOB is not correctly communicated when the key knob is pushed in, push the key knob again after several seconds.
